Hi ,I have no medical qualifications etc, but I do know that I presently taking 10mg of Ramipril daily, usually in the morning, without any issues that I am aware of. I have been on this dose for nearly two years having previously been on 5mg. Hope it works out for you!
Good morning L144. I too had my Ramapril increased from 2.5 to 5 mg tablet once a day. I have had no problems. But I also take Doxazosin morning and teatime So take my Ramapril after my lunch. Brian
thank you everyone who replied, I think I will take them at night as I do get dizziness , re my stent they found two constructions and put a long one one in my chorlestral is 4.5 and they would like it down to 3.5 . I wish you all well, thus is a wonderful site for reassurance and advice x
I was told to take them at night. Why risk taking them during the day if it doesn't matter. My GP said as long as you take any medication it didn't matter when as long as you do.
My husband had a stent in 2022 and he was told to take 2.5mg Ramipril twice a day, one in the morning and one at night. In her wisdom, his GP prescribed 5mg Ramipril one month and when he queried it, she said it wouldn't make any difference. However, when he took the 5mg tablet, it made him dizzy and lightheaded and he had to lay down. He then queried it with the pharmacy and they told him to stop taking the 5mg and to get the GP to put it back to 2.5mg twice a day. He rang the GP and actually managed to speak to a doctor (not his own) and was told to stop taking the 5mg as it was obviously too much at once (especially as he's on several other BP meds) and he immediately sent out a prescription for the correct dosage of 2.5mg twice a day. Everything was fine again then but eventually the Ramipril gave him a cough so it's since been changed to Losartan 50mg once a day at night because that can make you dizzy. No problems since. Good luck
Thank you so much lizzieloo2 for responding, I have decided to take them twice a day, I did think the stent would help me come off them not add more, but I am grateful for everything they have done for me, I am also back on the Ticagrelor for a year (the big bruiser as I call them) thanks again for taking the time to respond x
