Did she say why you can't eat it like that anymore? My husband will only eat steak medium rare.

🤮 Is that true you have to melt the fat off? Or am I being gullible?

Just grill an extra trimmed steak (i.e. all excess fat removed) as you like and enjoy. Buy ethically sourced and enjoy with a glass of Malbec (just the one)!

Fine with steak. Not with mince, a burger should be fully cooked. Reason being the bugs are on the outside. With mince the outside becomes the inside.

I can't remember the last time i ate a steak, must be decades

I eat only Scotch fillet steak cooked medium rare but I don't eat any blobs of fat. BTW I have not been told that I cannot eat steak, medium rare or otherwise.

Steak, like all fatty foods, contains a mixture of fats. Presumably, the longer that a steak is cooked, the greater is the harmful oxidation of the unsaturated fats, and the greater is the formation of toxic acroleins from various components of the steak.

Moral: all food is toxic! And don't worry about the occasional steak.

you are best advised to cut it out completely- but you know that don't you? have a nice day

You could look up which cuts of meat have the lowest fat. I think that a fillet steak has a lot less fat than a rib eye or sirloin. And if you are a spendy one beware waygu is way up there for fat content!

I had wagyu once about three years ago and to be honest I did not think it worth the money! Aberdeen Angus fillet, or rump, tastes better and has a lower carbon footprint. Celebrity chef hype!

Well, now I'm confused - are you saying trimming off the fat you can see on a steak (or top joint or whatever) is going to cause increased insulin?

I keep my red meat consumption down (less than one steak per week - and considering I was a T-Rex in a former life, brought up on a cattle ranch and think beef is 'what's for dinner...and breakfast and lunch and travel snacks', that's a real reduction and I do trim off 'excess fat' - are you saying I'm courting T2D trimming off that fat?

Thank-you for the link - I've downloaded it and will be working my way through it today. I do worry about T2D owing to age, and some stubborn overweight so any information presented by qualified reporters is very helpful, thank-you again!

Not to add to the confusion: my point of view, and I have studied the question at length: you can eat meat raw, including all fats, AS LONG AS it is from a grass fed healthy animal. Fats from beef fed on grains are not good for you. Check the Weston A Price Foundation, for starters.

Interesting comparison I use the GI (Glycemic Index), and for whole milk it is 39 and skimmed 37 - negligible difference.

What’s the point of living if one can’t enjoy nice things ? Everything in moderation. Rare steak included.

I am of the opinion that one can stick fanatically to a healthy diet and maybe live longer, if not, it will feel as if you have. Healthy food plus the occasional special treat.
