I know I shouldn't eat or drink for several hours before my ablation which will take place in the morning. But can anyone advise me what are the best meals to have during the day before the procedure, eg breakfast, lunch, dinner, foods to avoid, tips etc. Thanks....

hello Jean. I would not do anything unusual, particularly if I was rather nervous. Just keep to my usual routine. But did you have a specific concern?

No, not really, I just wondered if I should try to eat light the day before

Right. Its a good question. I’m hoping someone who's been through one, can advise you.

Hi I had my ablation in Aug 2020, all went well. I was advised not to eat anything past midnight as it was a morning procedure. But rule of thumb is 8 hrs before. It just in case you have a reaction to the local anaesthetic. They also ask if you are allergic to seafood and latex!!! That's because of the radioactive dye they use to see the heart function and track the wires.Don't worry it's not painful, in fact it's fascinating to watch!!!
