Just found out today that the cough I've had for 2 yrs is looking like a cardiac cough as a chest x-ray showed that my heart is enlarged with fluid around it to go with all the other things wrong with it

That's very interesting. My husband has had a cough for a number of years which they've always said was medication related, but still persisted after change of medication. They've now decided its a cardiac cough and he's now taking a low dose of furosmide, which has helped but cough is always worse in extremes of weather, hot/cold/damp etc. He's had xrays & ct scan but apparently it's just a small amount of fluid and not visible!! Have they said how they're gonna deal with it?

Not yet Lezzers, but I do have asthma as well, that's been ruled out as have tried every prevention inhaler & it's still here. Mine is also worse @ times, the doctors are gonna monitor it

The cardiologist was fairly sure husbands cough was heart related but he wanted GP to try and sort it out first. So for a year, he was given anti histermines, anti acid meds, inhalers, etc nothing worked so GP sent him to respiratory consultant who did breathing tests and ct scan and that's when it was decided its a cardiac cough!! Hope they can sort it for you, if it gets worse or you get discomfort from it certainly make them aware.

Hi,

I’m just wondering if you have had an echocardiogram? I had a cough for years which doctors put down to acid reflux. It was only after an echocardiogram that they saw that I actually had a Myxoma and a cough is on the list of symptoms.

I've had plenty of them as suffer from other heart problems as well

This does also explain why I'm so tired
