Stent and cough pain?

Hi,

I had a stent put in my LAD just over 3 weeks ago.

If I cough it causes a pain in my chest which is only present during the cough. It dissapears as soon as the cough process is done.

Feels muscular but as you know post HA any pain or sensation in the chest has you reaching for Google with worry.

Is this normal ? Should I be concerned

thanks baly

Hello :-)

I had a triple Bypass and after coughing you have to hold something to your chest to ease the pain

Having a stent I know they have not had to cut you open however they have been messing around in there which must leave the area tender for a while or I would have thought so

Just to put your mind at ease if you can get to speak to your Doctor or even give the BHF Nurses a ring hopefully they will give you some great advice because as you know Google won't and I would stop looking on there :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

BeKind28- thank you, I will give them a call Monday to ask, google can be very misleading and inaccurate 😊

Hello :-)

Google always gives you the worst scenario and makes you fear the worst :-)

Yes give them a ring and see what they say they are a lot more reliable :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

I had 4 stents put in on 1/9/23 and had a lot of pain in chest and back area from the getgo. It has taken until this week for it to go. It is muscular, especially if you had balloon inserted too. It is still invasive without them cutting you. The trauma will cause inflammation so it has to heal. Be kind to yourself, take it easy and speak to doctor if it causes you worry. It will go away, I kept thinking the worst but since the pain has eased the worry went down too. Hope this helps a little

For about a week after I had my stents put in, I used to get needle-like pains in the heart area when I woke up, which was a bit worrying, but I think I read in this group that if the pains go away after you take a couple of paracetamol, they're muscular, and so it proved. Do have a word with your GP if you're concerned, but as Velda said, you have undergone an invasive procedure that you've undergone. One of the doctors in the angiogram dept told me, "Your heart doesn't like to be messed around with and it will kick back at you!"
