12 Months since my Mitral Valve replacement and Double bypass.

All has gone well, Cardio Rehab completed and attending the Crawley and Horsham Heart support group exercise classes twice a week. My Cardiologist at Harefield has signed me off for a year and has given me the all-clear to fly. We have contacted three insurance companies all three have come back with really expensive quotes, I.e. £400 per 3 days, another was £1200 pa.

I am lighter, fitter now with no blood pressure or cholesterol problems compared to my pre. Op condition.

My question is:

Has anyone else had this problem?

Can you recommend a more affordable solution other than holidays in the UK (I love the UK) I also like freedom of choice especially if it's a freezing winter.

Where are the quotes for? This can make a substantial difference.

The Isle of Wight gives you both a ferry crossing and a trip back in time! :)

Joking apart have a looked at the pinned post on Insurance. Personally I recommend StaySure - have you tried them?

In my experience the first year tends to be more expensive but those quotes are far too much, as Michael suggests I used Staysure for the first year, see the link for the pinned post healthunlocked.com/bhf/post....

Also a new one I have just come across, Alpha Travel Insurance, seem competitive too

I needed insurance for a work trip - so talked them into annual cover. Which sorted me for my private holidays too.
