One for those who take warfarin

Evening All,

Just a quickie, I recently treated an outbreak of athlete's foot with some Daktarin ointment which I bought over the counter. I did read the instructions found inside the box and learnt that cream as its an anti fungal can upset your INR. I self test and checked my INR a week after treatment was completed and to find out that it had jumped from my target of 2 - 2.5. right up to 3.3.

My INR has been stable for six months despite requiring a dose antibiotics pre any dental treatment and a commencing statin (pravastatin). So it's now back to destabilizing it.

So the purpose of this post is to remind folk that even a simple treatment like this May cause INR changes so be careful.

Thanks for this. I’ve got into the habit of checking online whether there is any problem with anything I am thinking of taking or using, saves buying something I then can’t use. It’s surprising what does affect INR levels.
