Mick Jagger - He's Back

Less than three months after his TAVR and a month shy of his 76th birthday Mick and the Stones started their postponed"No Filter" tour in Chicago. According to reports he was leaping and dancing around the stage as well as he has ever done. Mick on a bad day is better than MichaelJH on a good day! 😞

I saw him when he was in his 50's. Amazing shake he was in then. He is an inspiration to those that become so afraid of these procedures. Look at Mick go!

Seven years ago at 78 I asked for TAVR instead of open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. I was told that I was too fit for TAVR ! It was then for patients less able to have surgery and that the valves only had a relatively short life span.

Now the valves have been improved and it is regarded as a cheaper and time saving quick recovery procedure. Patients now having a tissue valve are having a larger one fitted so that a TAVR can be fitted at a later date if they outlive it.

wow, times have changed then haven't they? The leaning curve I guess.

How are you doing now? Which type valve did you choose?

The valve is doing well. I did not want a mechanical one and to be on warfarin for life so had a porcine one. What I was not told was that about 35% of valve replacement patients develop AF. With some it rights itself but mine didn't and the first cardioversion did not work and so was on warfarin as NOAC's are contra indicated with tissue valves. The second one did for about 18 months until my vagus nerve was stimulated by a colonscopy. The next cardioversion lasted about 15 months until my vagus nerve was again stimulated by a DRE (digital rectal examination ) in 2015. Since then I've been in permanent AF. I had an Amplatzer amulet fitted privately just over two years ago to avoid the need for Warfarin.

Wow on the afib yours is very stubborn.

My brother had a valve last year. Aortic. He had the not so unusual afib post op afib.

Guess we better count out blessing it hasn't reared it's ugly head again

They say that another cardioversion will not work because my left atrium is enlarged but if I have an ablation it might reduce the atrium size. Although permanent I don't really notice the AF so I just carry on.

He looks great in the post-op and recovery photos, new lease of life, clearly. I've never seen him look so well.

Perhaps he is off some of his "other medications"

Keith definitely looks like he's still on ALL his "other medications"!

He always looks a step away from death. Quite amazing that he is still around.

Keith only drinks occasionally and smokes the odd spliff. Mick has the occasional glass of wine. Byron's "Mad, bad and dangerous to know" image came about in the sixties/seventies. It's hard to lose that image and it does them no harm. Keith and Mick are far more intelligent than maby people give them credit for! 😎

I agree, Mick must have done some hard work to get in that shape, a lesson for some of us.
