Interesting BBC news item

This is a BBC news item on heart "patches" containing living stem cells that could potentially repair a heart damaged by a heart attack or other heart condition. Initial trials look promising.
The BBC sometimes allow comments in a HYS (have your say) section and have done so in this case. What struck me in these comments was the number of ignoramuses that think all heart issues are due to lifestyle - I dispair at such total ignorance!
What a shame people can't just be pleased that a condition that's affects millions of people (whatever the cause) can hopefully be helped. Some of the comments are shameful!
Interesting article.
I read a lot about heart failure while I was in hospital (as you do), and remember reading an article about stem cells. The article said that the heart did not contain stem cells and therefore could not regenerate, but a research paper in Japan, I think, in 2009 claimed to have found stem cells in the structure of the heart and argued that evolution didn't tend to put something in an organ and not have a plan for it, so they believed it was a question of finding out how to switch on those stem cells. I'm curious where the stem cells they used originated.
Read that on BBC Text about an hour ago. Brilliant if it comes about!! 😊
Our local newspaper put it on Facebook yesterday - it looks promising!
