Went to Drs yesterday he has taken me off bisoprolol. MY blood pressure is to low. He said there is no difference between the coated aspirins they are just coated with sugar! Still having acid problems have been given ranitidine as well.

I thought the reason people were prescribed gastro resistant aspirin was simply because

"the enteric-coated form is absorbed in the duodenum (just below the stomach) because the special coating prevents it from disintegrating in the acid environment of the stomach"

hence less chance of irritating stomach lining......

Hi are you willing to share how 'low' your BP was in order to be taken off bisporodol?

Thanks for sharing. My BP is well down since all the meds but not that far. It's good to have a bench mark to understand these things.

My concern is a much lower heart rate steadily mid 50's now. My GP said that's fine but go back if it goes into 40's.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

I think it’s brilliant to be able to share our concerns on this site.

Yes its really useful and often reassuring. NHS info is understandably generic so getting facts and information is so useful. We are all different but information helps ease concerns

Platypus, have you tried eating a small carton of ‘live’ yoghurt? It can help to line your tummy and protect it in advance of ingesting any irritants, including medication. Drinking water infused with a few squeezes of fresh lemon before a meal can also help with the acid problems - lemons turn alkaline in the body. A small teaspoon of one of the known genuine Manuka honeys can also help.
