Hi there. I would say please don't stop taking the Bisoprolol without first consulting your Doctor or if he has one the Cardiologist. I have been on Bisoprolol/Sotalol and am now on Amiodarone. Yes I would say that they affect your weight but the effect the medication has on your body is prescribed for that reason. I count my calories every day now and go a walk every day if I feel well enough. Take care.

Hi do not stop taking this drug without first consulting your doctor, it could have very serious consequences. I have been taking bisoprolol 10 mg since 2013 without any affect on my weight whatsoever.

Hello :-)

I take several meds one is Bisoprolol and I have put some weight on but the other medications also say can put weight on which I take so not sure which one or if they all have contributed

However Bisoprolol is a very good drug for heart patients and one not to be stopped without at least speaking to your Doctor first so I would make an appointment and see what your Doctor says :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

In my humble opinion, such a small dose is not going to cause any weight gain. Not unless there’s some kind of underlying hormonal issue. I take 10mg a day and have never noticed any weight gain. Of course everyone is different and the only way to find out is to see how it goes. The other thing is, if someone says to him it will cause him to gain 30lbs and then he takes it on board then 30lbs he will gain. If weight loss had been in the list of side effects then some people will lose weight.

I saw a doctor once and he gave me some advice. “Don’t look at the list I of side effects, they’re there to cover the pharmaceutical companies in case of lawsuits” he said. When I thought about that and took his word, I’ve never really had much side effects with any drugs since.

One bit of advice I will give to anyone on any beta blocker though is never to go on a low carbohydrate diet. The beta blocker prevents or impedes ketosis. You’ll end up putting weight on with low carbs. Try it and see. Good health to you all.

I was on bisoporal for 5 months but came off it because it didnt lower my heart rate as I already have bradycardia. The cold hands and feet made me miserable. So my surgeon agreed to stop the medication. I lost weight while on the tabs, I dropped from 87kg to 78kgs but my chest and sternum were healing during this time.
