24hr ecg

I have been having palpitations on and off for years,and have mentioned it to 2 previous GPS.and they've brushed it off.Quite a few weeks ago,with a locum up.i mentioned it again.He responded and got me into the surgery for an ECG.As no palpitations occurred during this he referred me to hospital cardiac investigations dept.and I wore a 24 hr.ecg.

I returned this on the 28th March...and have heard nothing since....is this simply a sign of the nhs struggling or should I enquire at my surgery?..I will add that these past weeks waiting has been very stressful for me...

If you are concerned then why not speak to the receptionist?

You could speak to the bhf nurses as well, when they're back. Try not to worry too much. Easier said than done though.

I had a 24 hour ECG 9 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for my results! Your best bet is to contact the Cardiology Secretary, who can at least tell you where your letter is in their convoluted system. Last week, mine just needed signature and posting, but it's still not arrived.

But do keep chasing, because as I've experienced, even when results aren't good you don't always get informed.

I was told I needed 24hour ecg at gp. I was really worried at the time, my mind was all over the place.

The referral took ages.

This was November last year...i think it was end of feb before i got it. Lots of phone calls to gp and cardio...just a high level of patients in my area i think

I thing i've learnt is that nothing seems rushed lol.

For instance...

I was told I needed a angiogram in 2 weeks, when in hospital by cardiologist on the 20th March.

Appontment came though...June 11th.😶

There's definitely a go slow with my hospital lol.

I hope it's a little quicker for you

An update to this story!....I returned my 24 hr ecg monitor on 29th March.3 weeks later I rang my surgery for any info..I was told the hospital always take 5-7 weeks to send results

Well yesterday I rang the hospital to be told that they had sent my results to my gp on 8th APRIL!!

I then rang doctors and was put on hold by reception for ages...eventually said a Dr.would ring me later in day.

At 5 the same receptionist rang me to say she'd spoken to my Dr.and he'd said "No further action is neccessary "...I told her how terribly stressed I'd been for all those weeks...I felt like sobbing with relief...I got a grudging "sorry"...I think a letter to gp is in order do you?

It seems that all cardiology departments are under stress. As you say, it could be just a sign of the NHS, but it’s also not unheard of that cases have been ‘lost in the system’. As you say, it can be stressful waiting and I would agree with Mary and try phoning the cardiology secretary to find out how much longer you are likely to be waiting.

I started having palpitations on and off docter said same thing to me I now have heart failure this has changed my life change doctors or go to hospital for tests u have to help yourself think about u
