Well l had my 24 hour ECG two weeks ago and today l got a letter saying l have to make an appointment with my gp so now I’m worried. I had ECG last month that was ok but doctor wanted me to have 24 hour one. I have also had an ultrasound which showed my regurgitation hadn’t got any worse since 2014. The radiographer did say there was a few problems but not worrying or major.

routine telephone appointment sounds as though it’s not urgent.. i’m sure if Cardiology was concerned you would have been contacted for an urgent appointment

Thanks I’m hoping it’s just a routine call and no problems

Last April the cardiac departments were closing, no more heart ops were being booked in and i was at the hospital for an echo. I got home and the consultants secretary was on the phone asking me to contact my GP. Well believe me things moved fast. It was all now, not tomorrow.

Yes i needed a very urgent AVR.

The point of me banging on is that if things were bad for you then medics would be taking action. No letters asking for you to contact your GP, it would be come and see me now etc. I am convinced your results will not be urgent.

So please don't panic. Be calm and see what they have to say to you.

Good luck and all my best wishes

Colin

Thank you Colin logic does tell me the same but anxiety becomes ever consuming. Just one more thing to add to my list of ailments

What were symptoms and what did your ECG show up.

Extreme fatigue and exhaustion. I was functioning just 2 hours per day. ecg showed malfunctioning of one valve.

Sounds like a fairly routine call. If it was serious, I think the call would have been more urgent, and sooner than two weeks. All the best.

I suffer from health anxiety and when i have tests , then told to make an appointment with the GP (like i had to over my regurgitation which btw was fine as well) my head goes all over the place thinking the worst. I'm not saying you do but i know how you feel. Good luck, don't listen to your head, just listen to your gp. :)

Health anxiety is awful and it doesnt help that l cant speak to my gp until Monday. I will let everyone know how l get on. My regurgitation is playing up a bit as well.

Hi Kingsnorth, I think it's routine appointment and nothing to worry about or stress over. Best of luck

Hi Kingsnorth, I've had the same from reception and got all worked up. Turned out to be nothing 🤷‍♂️ so insignificant I can't even remember what it was. They use standard letter templates, why can't they think a little about the effect of that letter on the patient!

It will be fine, I'm sure.

I had a similar worry 4 weeks ago after my annual heart check up and bloods. I was asked to go back in a month for a repeat blood test but they couldn't tell me which one or why. I reckoned if it was in a month it wasn't serious. I go tomorrow. Have since found my kidney results were ok but questionable but they always have been a bit erratic so nothing to worry about. Your letter says routine so it's definitely nothing urgent. Most likely just to say things are stable and not to worry.

Thanks good luck with blood test

Well I've been on a diuretic for over 20 yrs so something has to give at some point. I'm sure they will deal with whatever. Just don't worry about yours. It IS routine. I suffer terrible anxiety when I don't know what's happening so I'm the wrong one to talk but honestly, been there so many times. If it was urgent you'd know by now.

How are you doing have you got your results. I had a ecg monitor fitted for 48 hours and waiting to here results. But cardio nurse says my heart is racing to over 120 bpm then dropping to below 60bpm. And I feel I'm going to pass out sometimes and come over all strange

Hi, l did get the results l been diagnosed with ectopics and been prescribed Bisoprolol. I have also got to have another ECG as well as a CT angiogram with contrast. I have got to have a blood test to see if my kidneys are ok first. I haven’t started the meds yet as l want to talk to my gp first as the letter from cardiologist says she wants my heart rate down and l want to know how it will be monitored. I’m actually quite scared about taking those meds. When do you get your results

Still just waiting but keep getting dizzy and hot flush feeling of passing out. Keep getting put of breath and really tired. Just don't know what nurse ment about my heart racing over 120bpm then dropping to below 60bpm. Did some mowing yesterday and today chest painful and back ache and really tired.

Can you phone your gp and see if she can shed any light on it. Hopefully somebody knowledgable can advise, it’s all new to me l think if it was urgent they would have called you straight away but l know where you are coming from because I’m anxious as well.
