Hello you could try ringing them, I found mine very friendly and they were able to give an idea of how long. Wasn’t any faster but may help with the wait a little if you know how long. If that makes sense. And then if nothing by the end of that period you can chase up again? All hospitals are different I.e resource

Thank you I did ring hospital as they sent me an appointment to see Cardiology Arythmia. On 1-8-22 which worries me I thought GP would have heard something before

Oh right mines different I rang the cardiology Diagnostics department rather than cardiologist but hospitals are different. Before heart issues a couple of weeks was nothing but when you’re waiting for answers it feels like an eternity. Hope all well when you do get there.

When I had mine done over a year ago during lockdown it took about 7 weeks for me to receive the results which they sent directly to me through the post with a copy sent to my GP. Like you after 4 weeks I was concerned so I rang my GPs surgery and they advised me to ring the cardiology department at the hospital where I had it done.. The cardiologist's secretary apologised and told me politely that my results were in a basket waiting to be typed up and there was a backlog. Thinking positively I assumed there wasn't a problem or they would have come back to me quickly. I rang her twice more before receiving the letter with basic results that everything was normal and some jargon that I didn't really understand! But was well pleased.

In my experience, my GP stayed well out of the picture in respect of HF once the Cardiology Clinic got involved. Almost 2 years post op, my GP is only now getting involved with the maintenance of my post op medication regime.

Cardio signed me off in February or March, so I suppose we are hitting that 6 month assessment time.

Prior to that, my GP was only involved in creating repeat prescriptions for the various medications, and only after a letter had been sent to them from the Cardio Clinic.

Wish you the best of news at the appointment.

It took about 2 weeks to get letter. But I did chase up my cardiac nurses In case there was something on the computer. But one trick I did do. Which did get me concerned. was that while I was wearing my 24 hr ecg you have fill in a form if you feel anything weird. Now I did have a light head after lifting and bending down at work so I put it down the sheet. Admittedly I had just started blood pressure meds a few weeks earlier. Any way I only had a few weird things, three in fact for the whole 24 hrs. Any way when I took the 24hr test back when she saw I had put down one dizzy/light head she said can you stay behind while we check it. I thought here we go . Any way about 15 minutes later a nice girl came out and said nothing to report that we could see you can leave. So a bit of relief there and when I did get the full report it found nothing untowards and they put on the end of the letter this is reassuring. Of cause this is just one test I have had, but I try to put this in my positive box. I try to do this to ease my anxiety. Good luck with your test.

If you were going private I would expect to be given an appointment to discuss the holter monitor results the next day. That's how it has worked for me twice now in Thailand. I doubt anyone can predict what NHS waiting times would be. Variable by geography and by time of year no doubt.

Morning Trevornick, I've had many holter monitor test over the years but my last 3 day test took nearly 6 weeks for the results to come back. I also called my gp who give me the cardiologist number to help chase things up but I think it all depends on how busy your local authorities are. Please try not to worry about the time scale it does not necessarily mean something is wrong but generally how busy they are or have a back log of patients to get through. Best wishes and keep us posted on any news.Regards Taz.

I normally wait about 6 weeks for any NHS cardiology results. It's worth chasing up with the consultant's secretary or the cardiology testing unit (depends on the organisation in the department.)
