If your Mum is able to walking is a good activity but if she feels unwell at anytime she should stop and rest. Is her AF under control with medication? Age UK often have fitness classes for older people of which some are chair based ie. stretching movements and other gentle exercises and maybe your Mum would consider something like this. She should check with her GP before doing exercises on top of normal day to day activities. When my Mum had AF and also dementia she resisted attempts to attend exercise groups at her assisted living home. You could make these suggestions but ultimately it depends on your Mum's motivation and wishes.

Thank you for your help she went into hospital last week with it they said it could be because she had just been put into Amatriptyline they told her to stop taking it they have given her apixaban and she is going for a ultrasound next week on her heart, although she had one done last year and it was fine she would never have known about her Af if she hadn’t gone dizzy and fell over that’s when I called a ambulance she said she’s never felt any fluttering 🤷‍♀️

You may find more information in the AF community group. At the top of this screen click on the icon to the right of the homepage icon and you can join the AF community. I know some people don't really detect an abnormal heart rhythm others know immediately. A Fitbit type watch may alert your Mum to a possible problem not to substitute a proper pulse check but just an early warning. Hope your Mum improves soon.

Hi, my mum is 89 and was diagnosed with AF about 4 years ago as she kept having dizzy spells. An ECG eventually and by chance picked it up. She likes to have a daily walk and lives in a 3 storey house so she gets her exercise that way. Her GP says to keep it up and she certainly feels better when she does. All the best to you and your mum.

Thank you for your reply she’s been suffering with bad sciatica but she’s slowly getting more mobile she has been put on Apixiban and is going for a heart scan this month the doctor thinks it may have been the Amitriptyline that caused the A.F.
