I am posting today to ask a question about going away, my wife has had a HVR four weeks ago, and my question is how soon can you fly after the operation and any advise on exposing her scar to sunlight. Thought about taking her away for a break in the sun to make her feel a bit better. Thanks

There's all sorts of things to be considered.

Some of her medication may well be "phototoxic" ie react badly to sunlight, common heart drugs like Amiodarine (and several others) fall into this category.
If she had open heart surgery it will take 12 weeks (and in some cases a bit longer) for the breast bone to heal. Up until then she may find flying uncomfortable. Also sleeping can be uncomfortable for many weeks after a heart operation, a strange hotel bed may not suit her.
I'd talk things through with your wife and make absolutely sure that she's ready for it, it's easy to think that a break in the sun is the perfect tonic, but she may just want to recuperate at home at her own pace.
Hi there,
I was advised not to fly for 6 weeks post CABG, have a word with your GP or cardiologist. Also try and avoid too much sun on the scar as the healing process is still ongoing
hope you have a good time
