I have an heart condition which is being treated with medication. I take Lansaprozole, Aspirin, Bisoprolol, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Losartin and Rovastatin. I did take Clodiprogrel until a month ago but it has been over 12 months since I had an angioplasty and two stents fitted one in each coronary artery, the doctor says I have narrowing of the arteries and need to take the rest of the drugs for life. Not for now but for later. I was wondering do I have to have special insurance or can I use my insurance which I get with my building society account as everything is okay with the medication.

You'll need to talk to your Building Society - as it depends on what they will cover. For example the Nationwide BS says:- This policy doesn't cover medical conditions unless they have been declared to us and accepted by us. In some instances, you can pay for a medical upgrade to your insurance policy.I'd be surprised if any bank/bs insurance would automatically offer cover without considering medical conditions but like an other travel insurance , would ask you to declare your conditions and would then decide whether they would offer cover. Note the wording from the Nationwide "accepted by us" and "In some instances" - this suggests they are probably quite selective as regards what they will offer cover on.
As already posted only your insurers can tell you if you are covered or not. My sister and her husband have an insurance from their bank and while it covered his diabetes they have to pay an extra £200 as he has been diagnosed with A fib. It is totally unsafe to to ask this question on a forum, you need to read the small print and check with the company.
"It is totally unsafe" - a bit harsh, surely. The poster is looking for advice, as is everyone who uses the forum.
What? I gave my advice as was asked. Do you think it is safe to ask if they are covered by their insurance on a forum? I think you have a problem, I have no idea what it is but just because you may not agree with my advice, it IS advice!
As noted by others your manner is unnecessarily aggressive.
In what way was I aggressive? No don’t bother answering you would rather get in a conflict with me than answer the question asked. If you have something to say please message me otherwise, move on.
Whoa
No need to fall out.
OP will need to check out with his Bamk/Build Soc we can't under write his policy on here. Just thinking Heather probably thought he could cut out the middle man. Not taking sides lol

Dear Sizzlerman
If you sit down for a minute and realise exactly what your body has gone through and the reason why it has , you will understand how important that it is covered by insurance properly.
It must feel fantastic to be well enough to consider taking a holiday { I’m guessing by the need for insurance } abroad and maybe with your loved ones.
Remember you are also protecting them.
Just contact your bank and be honest with them { not implying you wouldn’t be } and be prepared to back up that information with paperwork from your Drs / heart team.
Be prepared to pay more,
But then when your toes are wiggling in warmed sand, or your hanging of the side of a mountain you can forget the worry of ……….
What if
Take care and have a fantastic time , I have a feeling that you deserve it.
I had a heart attack 18 months ago. I am over 70 anyway and am familiar with the need to inform the insurance company about medical conditions. I have a Nationwide flex plus account and phoned them. They asked loads of questions, and I ended up paying several hundred pounds to continue cover.Had I not done so, and medical condition which was in any way related to the heart condition would not have been covered. Of course I'm talking about travel insurance.
If you have Flex Plus, and have had it for some time, you are probably lucky, since normal travel insurance for people with heart conditions is v expensive.
Be honest or it could come back and bite you. I saw a post on here where the lady needed air lifting off a cruise ship then a procedure in the US. It was a mauling but she had been less than honest!
