Does or did anyone suffer with headaches, before having stents or bypass done.
Also my ecg’s always show normal as did my brothers even when he was having HA

I actually believe that a resting ECG us of limited value after a friend was told he was fine and two days later woke up having a heart attack!
The only headaches I suffered befire my bypass were from GTN. Generally isosorbide mononitrate did the job!
I had very unstable angina 20 yrs ago and use to have headaches when stent was fitted my headaches stopped. When I had 2nd stent fitted I didn’t have any headaches at all.
My brother was taken in with chest pains ecg all ok next day he had heart attack.
Thank you for your reply
I used to suffer bad headaches which I usually attributed to stress although looking back I do remember getting headaches during or after exertion. I was unaware until I had a heart attack in April that I had CHD. Since having 2 stents in April of this yearI have had very few headaches. I wonder if it's because my oxygen levels have improved as when I got headaches in the past I often felt short of breath. An ECG weeks before my heart attack was normal.
Thank you for your reply, I have 2 stents fitted which are 50-70% blocked in one and 50% in another one I have headaches every day driving me mad, my memory is very poor meds are controlling the chest pain, but not causing the headaches, my personal thoughts is that these stents need unblocking sooner rather than later !
That's very interesting to hear - I have had really bad headaches for years after doing exercise, usually running and cycling. I used to put it down to not drinking enough water during it, but even when I made sure I was properly hydrated I still got banging heads after exertion. Over the past year or so I have had headaches that I could not shift with over the counter medication, and also felt sick in the afternoons. After being diagnosed with 95% narrowing in 2 parts of my LAD, I was fitted with 2 stents, and now feel so much better, no headaches or nausea, and no problems after exercise, albeit now moderate.
Hi, that sounds very much like me, after I had stent fitted my headaches & dizziness stopped.
I’ve been on meds for a while now and I know that’s not causing the headaches, I can’t wait until these stents are sorted out as I know I’ll stop feeling poorly
I’m pleased to hear your feeling better and thank you for your reply
Yup; first week or so. For me it was caused by the drugs: the typical combo of ticagricol (ticagrelor), ramipril and statins. This was resolved by taking ramipril in the morning after breakfast, be careful though as it can cause dizziness (driving etc). Also by splitting the second dose of ticgrelor from the statin; typically ticagrelor in the early evening, statin last thing at night.
Worked for me but could be a personal thing, if in doubt talk to your cardiac support nurse or GP.
All the best.
J
Thank you for your reply, the meds are not causing my headaches and dizziness, I think it’s the angina getting worse. I spoke with my gp today he said just to take pain killers until I see Cardiolgist next
I’m pleased everything worked out for you with your headaches
I have same issue of dizziness , after reducing imdur(nitrate) dosage it has stopped but now again it started . My GP & Cardiologist both are puzzled why this happnes only in morning .It drives me crazy in office . I heard few B & C Supplement in addition to medicine interaction between statin, ramipril, betablocker, blood thinners may cause .. still searching for an answer . I posted in forum earlier and received suggestions . I shall post back in that thread once I find a solution
Hi
I've had headaches off and on all my life since I was a teenage. I reckon there are a number of triggers. One I am certain about is hunger and falling blood sugar levels. Another trigger is sleeping in a room without adequate ventilation, but they go as soon as I get up.
I stopped drinking some months ago (not an excessive drinker, but regular) and your question made me realise that the headache frequency has declined, but not disappeared. In my case, it would be a stretch to correlate headaches with my stents etc. My guess would be that this might be a personal condition rather than a general one.
Hi 2stents, just a thought are you hydrated enough? I try to drink at least 2 litres of water per day if not more.
8 weeks ago I had a heart Attack and was practically taking paracetomal daily/weekly before that for headaches. Since then and the 2 stents they fitted...none! I was putting it down to the fact that i am now taking aspirin daily. Interesting to hear.
Hope u get sorted when u go see your cardio.
That’s great to hear your feeling better, yes I had same at 40 after having stent fitted headaches stopped,
