Hey all.I had my ablation back in August last year, just wondering if I should of had a check up or anything after it? It wasn't done under my normal consultant and my consultant wasn't informed when I had it done. Since having it I have random moments of pressure in my groin near were they went in. Did anyone else have a check up after or are we just left to it?

Check up after ablation
My husband had a check up 3 months after his ablation but I'm not sure if that's because his ablation was for VT's & because he had all sorts of post op complications. My husbands cardiologist was t informed either, he works from one hospital and the EP who carried out the op works at another.
I guess you'd possibly only have a follow up if the procedure didn't work. You could phone the hospital where you had it done & ask but maybe speak to your gp about the groin issue.
Good luck
I had a phone call from the nurses and, at a later stage, the EP, and just received a letter inviting me for a phone review 18 months on. This was because they thought it had failed though so is to discuss other options. I'd give them a ring and see if you need a follow up. No harm in asking. You're not being difficult, you're being proactive. They usually appreciate that, in my experience. And you've got a complex heart history I seem to recall, so you shouldn't be someone who slips through the net.
Hope you get a positive response 🌸
I had an Ablation in October and 3 months later (January) had a post op review.
Hi I've had 2 and no check upsI do have an ICD which is monitored but did not go to hospital
Good luvk
I’m on the waiting list for an SVT ablation. When I saw the cardiologist he booked me in for a follow up next year even though I haven’t got the ablation date yet. I guess it’s because waiting lists are so long.
I had an ablation in September last year and was supposed to have a follow-up appointment 3 months later, in December, but due to the Drs strikes and Christmas, I didn’t get mine until February this year. I thought everyone got a follow-up appointment to check how you’re getting on. I was told, when I was discharged, that I would get this, so I should ring the hospital where you had it done, to enquire why they’ve not sent you one.Hope the ablation was successful.
Hi cherrelleford. My understanding is that Many people can feel ectopics or irregular heart beats/ arrhythmias so you may know if these have stopped following the ablation. However I would have thought you need an ecg or 24 hour holter to confirm. I was booked in for a holter in 3 months time after my recent ablation at a follow up appointment. Am hoping that the ablation has worked and sorted the ectopics ( I have a lot) but I cannot feel them best wishes hope you are all sorted best wishes
My ablation was for an SVT episode which they were concerned could trigger my ICD to shock me. I have only ever had the one episode. My ICD paces my heart for slow rhythms and I do get the odd fast rhythm at times but I don't feel them. I just go faint, light headed etc. I have been informed that I am on the waiting list to be seen but it's just a long list. I was told my ablation was successful on the day but I still have an issue with pressure in my groin. So I will just wait lol x
I’m in the U.S., but at the time of each of two ablations I was scheduled also for a 3-month checkup, and at that time scheduled for another checkup. Those checkups were important. I don’t understand why you’re not getting a checkup. You should. Be a pest and get an appointment.
