Angina / hiatus hernia ?

My angina, after a number of emergency episodes, was diagnosed as hiatus hernia .This was not questioned a few years later even after had had an MI cardiac arrest having just driven home after taking off a holter monitor not showing up the problems .Now its a Reveal Device programmed to revealing nothing. Or else were the admin deliberately ignoring & still are ?

They still are 12 years later they are saying going to examine the Microvascular then use an RegistrarI have never seen before to ignore. This is after waiting a year driving 80 miles staying overnight as appts never been taken seriously .

So now having had classic heart failure symptoms of Function targetted in 1996 diagnosed last year as well as primary lipo-lymphoedema stage 2 because of no provision or assistance even when relates to antibiotics & sepsis for underlying disability it deliberately ignores along with age, status , gender history & genetics .

I still have the angina spasms almost daily after eating .I have one now that Reveal device is not picking up .So I have a regime 2 ranitidine , 2 GTN .This I do twice if it worsened like with cardiac I would call 999

I can't stop eating even though it can happen with just a drink or tablets ?I take a risk because of false alarms & if 111 hears you have had a heart attack it calls out the ambulance willy nilly as directed by insurance companies.

Hi skybluepink,

I'm sorry you are troubled with these symptoms. It can be difficult to differentiate between the two sometimes, but it may be an idea to make an appointment with your GP. They would be able to see if there are any more diagnostic tests that could be arranged for both the hernia and angina, and whether there is any medication you could take on a regular basis as opposed to just when the symptoms happen.

With the background of heart attack/cardiac arrest, there are other medications generally prescribed to improve the heart muscle function and reduce the risk of further events such as statins and beta blockers,so you may want to discuss this too.

Reveal devices are designed to pick up heart rhythm abnormalities, not blood supply to the heart,so are not used for angina diagnosis.

Your GP should be able to refer you to a cardiologist for review. If the chest pain symptoms don't resolve with GTN, we would always recommend you call 999 for an ambulance and go to A&E. It is much better to be safe than sorry.

I hope you feel better soon and that I've helped.

Take Care,

Philippa
