Thank you, That's put my mind at rest, and hope the Doc will say the same "nothing to worry about" sometimes the medication is worse than the illness, but we have to take the Clopidogrel for a year, which seems a long time.

Think I read somewhere that u r at risk of urine infection my dr said u had a mild infection that may have gone away by itself but because the blood thinners the bugs have made u bleed where as u may not have noticed it to be honest it gave me a fright but having gone through all these years never ever had infection down there it had to be meds

I agree it does seem a long time but I also have two other heavily blocked arteries and they want to see if they can reduce that so I may not need more stents. I Must say though that i feel far worse now, three weeks at home after the heart attack than I did whilst in the hospital. The only tablets they added after discharge were statins and bisopralol. I feel far more tired, have constant stomach ache, no energy and just generally feel rotten. The 4 days I was in there I had no problems, had an appetite, was walking around down the corridor after the first two days. I was alert and talking to people. Now i feel like a zombie and just want to sleep.I can't concentrate on anything.

Hi, I’ve been on Clopidogrel since my triple bypass in April & I haven’t noticed any. I have plenty of bruises on my arms which seem to appear at times without me remembering knocking myself! Maybe we all react differently.

Hello. I have been on Clopidogrel since having 3 stents in July, I use to bruise easily before taking them as I take long term steroids for another health issue which make you bruise, so now it's even worse, my husband said I look like a battered wife.

I looked at the leaflet on Clopidogrel and it does state that it can cause blood in the urine and poo, but I wanted to know if others have experienced this, always good to hear other peoples experiences.

I will have a word with my GP [ if I can get an appointment ] next week, typical that these things happen over a weekend or bank holiday.

Hi Pat, I too have always bruised easily but it got worse as a result of my asthma steroid inhalers over the years but now after taking the Clopidogrel it’s got much worse. I’m on it only for a year after the bypass so hopefully after May next year it should improve (tough wood). I also take Lansoprazole, it was prescribed by my discharge, by my GP because I was being sick a lot, presumably caused by all the medication. It has helped me.

Hello Jean

I have been on steroids for 18 years [ Prednisolone ] for Giant cell arteritis, I am now in remission and have been for a long time. Cut a story, I was left on them for too long, and they have caused my adrenal glands to be insufficient, so I am now under an Endocronologist at Addenbrooks hospital, they are trying to wean me off the steroids and put me on another drug, but when they saw I was having heart problems, and had stents, they said they will leave the weaning till Dec.

I have to wait till next July before stopping the Clopidogrel

Hi Pat, that’s a very long time to be on prednisolone, no wonder your skin bruises so easily. I have only been on those tablets for short courses, my bruises are due due to steroid inhalers for many years, I have to have them twice a day & have done so since the middle 1990s.

Perhaps by this time next year we’ll both have better skin.

Yes, I have had that, but I have been prescribed Lansoprazole which has cleared it up.
