Clopidogrel

Due to come of clopidogrel at the beginning of September, it being a year since I had my stent. Did anyone who was in the same situation just stop them completely or did they wean themselves off. I will have a week's worth of tablets left.

I just stopped. If you have any doubts, talk to your GP or a pharmacist.

Yes, just stop, I also had a lot left at the end of my year and I decided to finish up the prescription. That's 5 years ago.

Hi Ann - I was due to stop them in March after a 3xbypass in February last year. I rang the pharmacist at my GP's surgery to check if I needed to cut them down or just stop. She advised me that I could just stop, still have to stay on the aspirin though. I've had no problems with this. If you're still unsure, you could check with your pharmacist for extra reassurance as well. Good luck with the less bruising! 😀👍 Carol

Hubby Was told to just stop but was put back on it after another heart attack 20 months later. He was then told to take it for 3 years which means he should stop April 2024 . Consultant rang to do yearly check few weeks ago and said he will ring him in March to discuss way forward as Peter asked about stopping . Think hubby feels ‘safer’ on it but hates the bruising - we haven’t heard of anyone being in it longer than 3 years .
