Hi can anyone share experience of getting travel insurance before and after having a triple bypass please. All the companies I’ve tried won’t ensure us.

If you are waiting for a bypass basically no one will insure you. Post bypass it will be impossible initially, then very expensive and more reasonable after about three problem free months. Cancellation insurance could potentially be tricky if you book early.
Do you have a Sunbeam Alpine? I owned one for a short period about 1975 (B reg I think).
If you have been told you need a CABG and you have not yet had one, its very likely that nobody will insure you. Post CABG my experience was straight forward. 6 weeks post op I had no issues getting quotes using Compare the Market or Money Supermarket. I'm insured for worldwide cover for just on £320 pa - the quotes did get silly, but I just ignored those. I think I'm paying maybe £100 more now than I was before.
Thank you looks like pre op is going to be a no goer then. We’re obviously going to lose out financially or take a massive risk which would be not the best thing to do
If you are a female, or have a female partner living at same address.... You can join a Women's Institute group & then join their group travel insurance policy with Open Travel company. . £195 for annual multitrip policy. You can see their brochure online. They don't ask medical questions, but there are three things they will not insure for: 1. If you are terminally ill. 2. If you are travelling against medical advice (ie. If your doctor says you are not fit to travel) & 3. If you are travelling abroad in order to have medical treatment abroad. Good luck. Clare
Hi, I had a triple bypass in April & was discharged from the cardiologist last Friday. On Saturday I started looking for travel insurance, I insured myself & my husband with AllClear on a 12 month policy for £600. We thought that was reasonable considering our ages, I am 69 & my husband is 78. We declared everything.
It might be worth checking with them but probably after your bypass.

Thank you. We have a holiday booked already so not sure what to do as very risky going before operation I guess without insurance. Wish I’d arranged insurance before all this happened but we did t know
We had to cancel holidays when I was told I couldn’t fly after my angiogram is February. Our insurance at the time was about to run out , they refused to renew it, so they paid for one flight already booked & just inside the day it run out. We had to cancel a couple more in May, June, but we were lucky & just lost our deposits so we did well.

Took out travel insurance with AllClear three months after 4xCABG cost was £110 for annual policy
Good morning sumbeamlpine
I have had similar problems, but had help from the excellent members suggesting different companies, also spoke to insurance companies and they suggested I wait at least 12 weeks before applying, not go to travel until next year because of the high price.
Best regards
My husband has yes. Been renovating it but not back on the road yet. Thanks for your reply
Hi Sunbeam.
Two years ago I had to cancel a cruise because I had just been put on a waiting list for a bypass. There was nothing that I could do about that as going without insurance was a definite no no but I did get half my deposit back. I have just secured Travel insurance to ride across Europe on my motorcycle the end of August and another mini Cruise to Germany in December for £67 from "get Going", That was declaring a Quad bypass and high cholesterol.
Hope all goes well.
PS my dad had a Sunbeam Rapier
Try travel 4medical just paid £30 cover for week trip to Turkey, had bypass 8yrs ago,and another heart attack 11 weeks ago. Always check you can get travel insurance BEFORE you book
My Alpine was a sixties one like the one that appeared in "Get Carter" with Michael Caine. Which model did you have?
