I thought I would hang fire before I posted an update as nothing really much has happened since my last post. Well today I visited James Cook and met with a Cardiologist not my Surgeon, which was a little disappointing as I really wanted to shake his hand and give him my thank you card, but not to worry he has more to think about than just me.
The guy I saw was a lovely man who gave me a thorough check over and said that my progress was fine and discharged me from their care. I did have the opportunity to discuss what I had been up to on the exercise front and the effects I was suffering as a result of foolishly doing some core exercises which really did impact on my well being for about 4 days, everyone said take it easy and I paid the price for not listening. I easily manage 12 miles on the static bike in 40 mins and walk 4 miles plus with no ill effects, however the core work on the wobble board done me in!!
Take it from me listen!
I have finally started to sleep better and not spending the nights watching QVC and such like
I will be starting my Rehab next week and looking forward to all the advice that will come with participating in the 16 sessions.
It has certainly been an experience, tears lots of em, crankiness, discomfort and worry but its a small price to pay for hopefully a good quality of life moving forward.
I hope that those of you facing surgery stay positive and you guys post op have a speedy uneventful recovery.
This site has been great and its contributors have been an inspiration and I thank you all.
Keep smiling

Hi, I just want to say thank you for the above post about your CABG x 3. I am due to have the same operation on 19th April & like everyone I am apprehensive about the procedure & the recovery so your story gives me encouragement & hope. At the moment I am trying to walk every day to keep myself mobile. Up until my angiogram in February I had been going to a gym but was advised to stop going until my CABG so I hope that I will soon be able to go again after cardiac rehab. I am having my op at Liverpool.
Thank you dandydemon, I have heard nothing but good about Liverpool. I went to see the surgeon & lots of tests last week, he gave me the op date & I have now received confirmation in the post of the date & also have a pre op appointment with the clinal nurses for April 11th. We have been very impressed with their efficiency so far. I had an angiogram at Arrowe Park on Wirral in February & was referred from there.
Brilliant to hear your doing well try to take it a bit easier for your own sake . Rehab is good though not high impact it's good to speak to folk in class about the experiences etc and having trained staff there if you where to need them sets your mind at ease . I've done rehab twice 32 sessions and found it good . All the best with tour recovery and look forward to future posts . Alan .
Hey that’s pretty good for 7 weeks! I think I walked 5 miles around 8 weeks or so.., at 12 weeks I’ve now started some leg and bi / triceps work in the gym (20lbs). But I’m still having sleepless nights every 5 nights or so?? Why is that? Are you? I know it’s due to fear or anxiety, but I don’t know why I’m still having these feelings when during the day I feel great..
I guess my mind isn’t ready to let go of these emotions yet? It’s not convinced of my safety? IDK...😩 hopefully soon peaceful sleep will find me every night.
