I have had consistent chest infections for the past year. I have had X-rays, CT, sputums and all are showing negative. I go on antibiotics, they work for 4-6 weeks and then the infection is back. I think my doctors have given up, has anyone experienced this - as it is tiring me down thanks

Chest Infections
A friend had this when he was about 60. He ended up in hospital in Edinburgh whilst on a weekend break. With someone new tests showed he had an issue with his immune system. He needs ongoing treatment for this but he is quite well and not eating antibiotic sarnes! Sometimes it does need an open mind!
Dear Michael thank you for your response, please can you tell me what antibiotic sarnes are and do you know what treatment he received / receiving thanks
Hi... It was meant to be antibiotic sarnies! I was being rather sarcastic as his GP spent a long time treating recurrent chest infections to no avail. Every few weeks he was trying a different antibiotic, increasing the dose, etc. but never took things further! He has a monthly infusion (similar to a blood transfusion - I think it is called immunoglobulin therapy). This used to be fairly locally but since they started centralising services he uses another heath trust as it is easier to get to! Nowadays he seems fitter than many of his peers and never even gets a cold. Ask for a second opinion if your ongoing saga continues.
