At long last I had an angiogram today which showed just a little plaque in two arteries so my cardiologist decided to continue the test with adenosine. We were both surprised to find I do not have MVD despite symptoms. Cardiologist also came to the conclusion that I don’t have spasms either. I’ve been referred back to my GP.
Has anybody on here had the same diagnosis? Where do I go from here?
I feel relieved that I’m not in any danger of a heart attack and looking forward to getting answers
Hi, yes very similar situation. Back in March after a CT angiogram, where the results came back looking very dire and me starting on a cocktail of drugs, I was put forgot a trial where I went to London had tests done and was booked in for angioplasty. In June I had the procedure and was found to have only around 30% so mild heart disease. I’m now only taking statins, the trial dropped me like a hot potato and I was told that my pain and SOB symptoms couldn’t be cardiac related! I’ve had no contact or further consultations from a cardiologist and have been left pretty much to get on with life. Don’t get me wrong I’m relieved that my lower ascending artery didn’t need a stent but have no answers as to why I get left arm heaviness/pain, or wake in the night with pain and cold sweat or struggle climbing stairs at 49. I think the nhs are slammed tbh and where once we might have had follow up treatment it’s now a case if it’s not obvious or straight forward they just don’t have the time to offer further support. All I can suggest is going back to your GP and asking if there’s any further support via a chest pain clinic at your local hospital?
Hi thanks for replying and yes apart from saying I was to be weaned off 2 out of the 3 anti angina tablets a letter would be sent to my GP. There was no mention of what could be causing chest pain and SOB. I didn’t think of any questions to ask while I was processing her words, ‘not cardiac related’!
I did ask a cardiac nurse on the ward what happens next and she thought cardiologist would be round to see me before I was discharged but it didn’t happen. The ward was extremely busy so I assumed the cardiologist was busy too.
I’ll call my GP on Monday and get the next ball rolling and ask if I can be referred to local chest pain clinic as you’ve suggested.

Has anyone suggested gastro problems for chest pain rather than cardio? In Feb this year, following chest discomfort and A&E visits and overnight observation in hospital, I was diagnosed with angina on the back of earlier heart attack issues, but the discomfort I felt at the time has gone away completely even without the meds I was prescribed and I now believe my symptoms fit well with a hiatus hernia. Even the cardiologist was unsure about the angina diagnosis, more so when I told him I have had reflux disease for many years.
Hi before I was told I had angina due to 50% plaque in my LAD artery I had an endoscopy after suffering chronic heartburn for about 18 months. I had helicobacter pylori which was treated successfully. Another endoscopy was clear and showed nothing to cause any problems.
I do have coeliac disease which is very well controlled. Perhaps another endoscopy will be suggested though I don’t suffer from heartburn anymore.
The asthma clinic ruled out asthma for my breathlessness too so I don’t know where to go from here.

Yes I had almost the same senario as you but I had a ct angiogram where as well as the plaque they found a tumour in between the lungs Ann’s in front of the heart. This was removed by cardio thoracic and I now have zero chest pain so cardiology have dismissed me into care of thoracic Lthough I still need to be on statins and aspirin🤷🏻♀️
My 'angina' seems to have gone. However after a discussion with my GP I still intend to go ahead with the angiogram which is planned for me when I saw the cardiologist at my follow up in April. And yesterday I managed an 850m swim without incident, on the way to a target of 1000m by the end of this month.
What a bonus with your ‘angina’ gone but good idea to still go for your angiogram. Well done on your swim and good luck reaching your target.
