Hi l'm Margaret, l had a heart attack 14 mths ago ( Taketosubo cardiomyopathy ) from which l thankfully have recovered well. I am planning to visit my grandchildren in the USA and am having problems getting affordable travel insurance.

Has anyone got any recommendations ? I would gratefully appreciate any help or advice .

Thanks

Just had a look. They are called All Clear travel insurance. I've used them. They are good.

Hi Margaret. Good to hear about your recovery. I have looked at several companies and the best one I have found for pre existing conditions is Staysure. Good luck Des

Yes, I got a decent quote from Staysure too. Annual European policy with 100 day max single trip days for £237. That is for me and wife, both with pre-exisitings, mine being triple CABG with high cholesterol and blood pressure.

After my attack, failure, stent etc, finally got reasonable quote via MoneySavingExpert. Reduced the quotes circa £370 for a year to £210 with Travelinsurance4Medical. Good luck.

If you join your local W.I. which costs £ 41 p.a. they have a group travel insurance with Open Travel Insurance which is £195 per annum for worldwide Inc USA you do not have to declare any illnesses the only condition is you have not been advised not to travel by doctor and are not terminally ill. They may even do insurance for individuals on that basis. The last quote I had before this was about £400 so this has been great for me. I only had angina and gastritis then too I know have a pacemaker too so God knows what it would be. Good luck

Hi everyone, thank you all so much for your speedy responses and advice. This has been very helpful , l had been quoted £2829 as l previously have had cancer and thought l was going to have to give up on my trip.

Thanks again Margaret x
