Hi Covvie

You are about 11 weeks ahead of me - I had my triple CABG just 3 weeks ago. I have similar concerns to you about 'overdoing it' - I have actually posted a question about it as I have no post op support in this area until Cardio Rehab starts in December. If you are feeling, or even thinking, you are depressed, this may actually be why you feel totally wiped out - its something of a chicken and egg thing. My advice is to go see your GP in the first instance just to make sure its nothing to do with the meds etc. He/she should be able to help you with the depression as well.

I think we all tend to forget that a triple bypass is a huge operation. Your body has been 'invaded' and it takes time to really fully recover. The adrenaline immediately post op may get you through the early days, but just because you were not depressed then doesn't mean you will not get these feelings later. Don't let it fester, talk to anyone who will listen and go see someone. Talking really helps.

Hope everything works out well

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Steve, i've already followed your advive. I rang BHF nurse who was brill, explained so much. Apparently this is a common occurence, us "superman"! whilst feeling physically better forget our emotional side. I've basically nearly burnt out!!!...in 14 weeks! But hey what a lesson, i'm listening now!!. My advice to you my friend, take every piece of advice given, even when you feel you can do more, just check yourself, recover in a timely manner. I know we all have external demands but without your health.

One further point, surprised about your post op support, i would contact the ward you was on and ask about cardiac liason/rehab nurse. I had one from admission until 6 weeks post op.

Thanks and recover well

Steve

Yes I second that . I am six months on and back to tennis after triple bypass. However there are days when I feel tired and stressed. Yes we did have an big invasive procedure . It is a slow process getting back still takes time. It’s such shame cardiac rehab is closed down because that is so important. I am still considering myself on recovery - especially mentally

Hello covvie, tiredness is to be expected, combination of the meds and work will do that. I'd echo Steve on going to see your GP, I know first hand how debilitating depression can be and I left it far to long, sooner is always better.

Good luck

Thanks Mark, my reply to Steve is echoed to you. I've seen Gp and talked to BHF understand things clearer now, should have had a little more respect and been kinder to myself!

Thanks for the help

Steve
