Emotional setback

Hi All,Had HA back in September & had a stent fitted.

After struggling with side effects of meds for many months, it seems to have sorted itself out & for the last month, I seem to feel like my old self again.

Over the months I've had one or two little niggles/ feelings around my chest.

Never lasted long enough to worry about & probably were there before HA, but you seem to notice more feelings & niggles now.

Roll onto last night, sitting watching TV & from nowhere I get a different feeling along middle of chest, same area of stent.

Wasn't a seering pain, more like a pressure bubble & then, as if it popped & the pressure/feeling had gone.

This happened twice & was all over inside a minute or so.

I did feel a little spaced out or faint after but only briefly.

BUT for the first time since HA I was actually scared & did think, something bad was happening.

Today I feel a little washed out but feel like the whole episode has set me right back, just as I was feeling so good.

Ironically, I had a routing checkup the day before & ECG came back OK.

Sorry for the long post, not sure if I'm should be worried or not.

It's perfectly normal to feel concerned about your situation given it's still relatively new to you and, like most people would be, you are wondering whether your discomfort is a sign of something serious. But if no one comes along who has had a stent fitted and can offer some personal post event experience, I suggest you give the BHF Heart helpline nurse a ring tomorrow and share your concerns and you should get a professional opinion and hopefully some reassurance. In the meantime the normal advice if you get unexpected and severe pain is to call 999, but hopefully that will not be necessary.

Wish you well , I had stent fitted 3 weeks ago , so can’t really offer any advice , as it’s too early days for me . Hope you get the answers you need

Hi Washo66, I would as Lowerfield_no_more advises, or possibly ring gp in the morning.I had a stent fitted in June whilst in hospital for heart attack and another one in July. Since then I have had different sensations and twinges of pain and still am. I've seen my gp twice and another one too, once my lansaprazole was increased as some of the sensations were due to aspirin and beta blockers affecting my GORD, (Gastro oesophagul reflux disease) however I am awaiting to see a cardiologist since September as cardio rehab had to be halted as they weren't sure if I was experiencing angina or not as not in the typical chest area you think of. So I've been told to try my gtn for new uncomfortable feelings that persist and note it down.

Sorry for having dragged my reply, I'm trying to say I get all weird and strange sensations even now, kinda getting used to it and panic less and less now. But please contact the BHF or GP and get checked out. It gets easier I promise you

Thank you.Same here, I get funny little feelings in chest/rib area & normally brush them off with no worries.

This time though obviously scared me as it was different feeling & momentarily made me stop what I was doing.

I have cardio rehab tomorrow & I'll have a chat with them there.

it takes a while 6 months for body to settle down…but with side effects of drugs there are muscle ache issues…..keep a diary record blood pressure…side effects of drugs your on…when you see cardiologist ext next then you may need for drugs to change

I have had similar episodes. Very odd, but nothing has shown up in various tests yet.

I have an Echo on Tuesday, so that should clear things up or show any new problems

Hello Washo66I had a stent fitted after HA nearly 4 years ago . I've had twinges ever since , had numerous tests and been to AE several times .

Going for another stress test hopefully on Monday.

Go back to your GP and ask to be referred to rapid access chest pain clinic or of symptoms worsen get to AE .

I had my HA nearly 10 months ago and still get the pains and feelings, I have come to think after speaking to my cardiologist and GP that it is what it is. I think we must remember having stents fitted is invasive surgery and we are still mending!

I agree with lowerfield_no_more in all respects bar one contact the cardio nurse and explain to her/him they are better placed to give you advice than all of us here, which will alleviate your concerns more than us waffling on would ( apologies to all medical people who reside in this forum).

I called cardiac rehab nurse this morning & she seems to think, because it was over very quickly & I have been ok since, probably nothing to worry about.I will discuss further with them tonight & look forward to my Echo next week.

That sounds a bit like the ectopic beats I get. I had two stents after a heart attack almost 6 years ago now. NO ill effects or strange feelings. I'd had ectopic beats long before that. I don't think you should go off others' experiences. Everyone's different and new symptoms need checking out. YOu could talk to the nurses on the BHF who will probably advise you to see your GP.
