Sore ankles post cabg x3

Hi everyone. I'm 7 weeks since op. On minimal meds, Atorvastatin and daily aspirin only. Not sure why but for weeks both ankles have been very sore, aching, in Achilles tendon area. This is now inhibiting my walking progress. I and doctor cannot fathom this. Anyone had this or can guess what's happening? Thanks, Chris.

Hi I already had problems with my Achilles in both feet, last Feb had the first op and a speedbridge fitted, I just recovered from that then had AV replacement 8wks ago. I was taking Atorvastatin 40mg

And I noticed that my Ankles and Achilles were feeling sore and aching, I read the stat sheet that's inside the packet and one of the side effects said it can effect tendons I'm now on Lipitor 20mg 2wks and they are not so bad.

So read the sheet it may give you some answers . Hope this has been some use. Take care

Thanks. That is very interesting. Going to read the info sheet now. But isn't Lipitor the same as atorvastatin (the generic of Lipitor). Looks like you have just halved your dose? I could easily try that.

Kaz. You may something. I used to be on 20mg with no problems. Hospital increased the dose to 40mg, now ankle problem. I'm going to trial 20mg for a couple of weeks, see if the ankles improve. Thanks again.

Statin you are taking did that to me years ago so when I was prescribed it again I refused to take it. Now been offered Ezetimibe 10mg, still these have side affects, but unlike statin are not as severe. However, my cholesterol is only 3.9 so I don't quite get why the cardiologists is so keen for me to on something to lower it even further. But don't suffer as the side affects you are having are very common. See GP get them changed.

Thanks twobells. I'm trialling not taking the atorvastatin. Been 2 days, slightly better. Will probably stay in my system for s while. Seeing Go next week.

It will take about 4 weeks for your symptoms to subside. So I was told, but you can lower cholesterol just by making slight changes in your diet.

My high cholesterol is genetic but I need to take something. Hoping the station is also responsible for my restless legs in the evening, like right now.

Looking to ask GP for Pravastatin, being an older, long established statin (hydro one), with a good track record for low side effects, especially muscular.

Not what you're looking for?
