My finance is now in hospital and will be going down for surgery at approx 8am (UK)

Looks like it will now be a triple possibly quad bypass.

Any spare positive thoughts please send them our way!

He will be fine. Lots of positive posts here about bypass surgery. Try not to worry as it is routine surgery for the cardio team if not for you. Update us in the days to come.

He will be in good hands so try not to worry at least he's on a early list and not having to worry most of the day

Good luck

wishing him well....he will be back in the recovery ward by lunchtime. Hope you manage to find some peace this morning. Do you have people around you to support you whilst he is in theatre? Let us know how he is and look after yourself.

I do wish you both well. Lots of positive vibes coming at you from north London.

It is a strange time warp thing both waiting on the day to go down and then waiting for your significant other to reappear.

Don’t you forget to eat and drink something today. It’s exhausting for you too.

And to your fiancé- does he know you call him your Finance!!

Here’s to a good recovery.

He will be absolutely fine- and will know nothing about it until he wakes up- when the recovery begins and then he just has to do what he is told!!! (I wasn’t always good at that). You need to look after yourself so that you can be there for support so lots of deep breathing and rest needed.

All best wishes - the staff are experts! My husband had a triple over 2 years ago and has been really well ever since.

Thank you all, he’s been in theatre for nearly 3 hours now so I’m guessing around half way through. Feels like days already!

Have you had a cup of something and a little something to eat? Have you got an iPad or tablet- some Netflix maybe?

Your fiancée will be fine - and will remember nothing apart from meeting the anaesthetist before and waking up afterwards - you are the one taking the strain!

Remember these operations are done every day by experts who really know their stuff. I had my bypass on 19 Dec, home on 24th and I’m amazed at how well I feel - really! Just have to work on building up stamina and getting active. It’s a wonderful feeling to know the cause of my heart problems has been fixed and I can enjoy life fully again. Very best wishes to you both.

Best wishes to both of you and fingers crossed for a smooth recovery. xx

Ops all done and fiancé is in intensive care, I’ve been in to see him briefly and he actually looks really well all things considered! Back to hospital in bit to see how he’s getting on.

Let's hope all goes well and this brings a start to a bright and positive future...

Hi and good luck. Not only do I have a stubborn husband with heart failure, but my 40 year old son had a heart attack in October, initially dismissed by his doctor as a panic attack. Hospital confirmed and after 3 days in there, he was given an angiogram with a view to a stent. Then the plan was home and back to work the next week. But the angiogram showed too much blockage so he was scheduled for a quad/quintuple bypass a few days after. They had to wait a few days to take him off the blood thinning meds first. Postponed by a further day due to no CICU bed available. But he finally had the op in a Friday morning. They said he was blocked in 4 arteries over 90%, up to 99%. The 5th wasn’t as bad but they decided may as well have a complete new set of pipework. So harvested from both legs and one arm. He was in CICU overnight and moved onto CCU Saturday morning. They let him home on the Tuesday and he had 2 weeks more off work before going back for a few hours at a time. I know that is very soon but he’s a contractor(desk job) so no work=no income and bigger headaches. He began sensible exercise as soon as he was home, just walking around the estate at first and built up the miles over weeks. Fit as a flea and now thinking he should have had this done a few years ago as he was obviously feeling breathless and tired.

So a very positive result after an extremely worrying week for us all- especially those of us sat waiting for phone calls!

I hope all goes well today. It’s a very stressful time and I admit I did lose the plot once and had to leave in tears, but stay strong and you’ll have her back soon
