Angina after CABG x3 and Clots

I had cabg x3, aged 56 on 16th September this year followed by internal bleeding, AF and collapsed lung. (I never do anything easy!) Was meant to be a quad but I had no 4th vein to use. Was sent home after 10 days in hospital. 2 days later was rushed in A&E by ambulance with a Saddle Pulmonary Embolism. I didn't realise at the time what danger I was in but thankfully was discharged as stable 8 days later. (I think I posted about this before) To anyone waiting for surgery this complication is very rare so please dont worry just try and move asap.

My question is this, now I've started to walk more I've noticed I'm still getting slight angina pains in the middle of my back and jaw. Has anyone else suffered this? Could it be the blood clots causing problems which will eventually dissolve? Can you imagine if ive gone through all this and ive still got problems, apparently theres a chance the clots will have damaged my heart muscle which was very healthy before the surgery. I will contact the cardiology nurse but just wondered anyone else's experiences. My follow up with the surgeon isnt until 16th November. Many thanks and God bless you all.

Hello :-)

I am so sorry what you have been through and you are right it is very rare this happens and I wished it had not happened to you but it seems you are doing really well with your recovery walking alone after everything is a massive milestone :-)

I do not have the answer and I am not sure how many will I do hope someone does to try and help what you are going through as you say this does not happen often

I would love to know how you call goes with the Nurse and I hope they will have been able to reassure you :-) x

Hi Bekind, the cardiac nurse didn't know anything, off to the GP this morning just to say I've gone through the right channels. I might even phone the surgeon direct. I have his number. Seems quite hard to get information once you've been discharged. It's like no-one wants to take responsibility. Anyway, I'm still forever grateful I'm alive and that's the main thing! I will get there!

How are you? Good I hope.

Thank you for replying as always. You're so good to everyone amd much appreciated!

Hello :-)

Yes I have to agree once discharged it is hard to get the information when you need it I have found the same at times

I am glad you have got in with the Doctor today again if you get any answers I would love to know and if not I think it would be a great idea to phone the Surgeon I am still in contact with mine over a year later and to be honest I find mine the most helpful out of everyone that has dealt with me

Thank you for asking how I am I am suffering with a very difficult stomach at the moment that has decided to show of there always seems to be something :-) x

Hello Slip0000, After surgery all sorts of twinges and pains are common. I had CABG by 4 just over a year ago. You have gone through so much and it sounds as though you are doing well. With everything you have been through I do think you should get it checked out. Take good care, Judi
