Hi I’ve been prescribed Trimovate for sensitive areas which I’ve used around eyes, neck and forehead. Sparingly and not long term. Hope it works for you

I wouldn’t recommend any steroid creams, ultimately they thin the skin and it always comes back worse, in my experience anyway.

Always better to try and find the cause and trigger for yours. I find cutting all refined sugar eases mine but easier said than done. I currently have a stubborn patch on my hairline, about the size of a small coin. I apply coconut oil to help keep it moisturised. Vaseline also works to help lift the ‘dry bit’. Good for 24-48 hours until it flakes back over.

Might have to get my handheld UV machine out soon if I can’t get it under control.

Hi Lilagrace

I am very interested in your mention of the handheld UV machine - have you used it on your scalp? how easy was it to use? and did it help with the psoriasis?

It is a faff to do if you have long hair because you have to part each section and hold the lamp on it. It worked well. I respond well to UV, as the hospital UV treatment worked on my body in 2017/18 and it hasn’t come back.

But my scalp usually flairs over winter. Another thing to try if you haven’t before is a daily probiotic tablet, my scalp has been bad this winter and I kept meaning to start my UV again, but it takes time and never got round to it. I started a daily probiotic in January and my scalp has cleared, it is no longer scabbing over every few days. So I recommend trying that

this is what I was concerned about in using a UV lamp on the scalp - as to how difficult it would be with getting to the scalp through the hair. The scalp psoriasis has been quite bad this winter and my hair has been falling out because of it, but not so much as to see the scalp. I do have a handheld which I have used on my arms legs and part of my torso - but just couldnt work out how to use it on my scalp by myself!

I have not heard of using a probiotic tablet. Thankyou, I will look into it today.

The new Gp at the surgery appears to be focussing on using steroid creams and lotions, but I am against using anything steroid, so we are at odds at the moment.

A couple of years ago I was prescribed and using Calcipotriol Scalp Solution which helped a great deal. But the pharmaceutical company that produced it stopped producing the 60mg + 100mg bottles due to cost. So not available to NHS patients outside of hospital.

Fingers crossed that the probiotic tablets have a similar good effect on my scalp!

Yes I agree with the steroid creams, ultimately they just thin the skin and it comes back worse. So I think they’re pointless, I know sometimes they can provide people some relief but they aren’t really any good long term

If in the UK I got the probiotics from boots, Optibac everyday, definitely try them for 1-2 months and see if helps.

Won’t do any harm trying with your UV light in the scalp in the mean time. Focus on any big patches, part the hair and hold the light over it, it is doable just longwinded x

oh my goodness....spoke with my GP about probiotics after reading your success with them.

Appears that he doesnt like my asking about trying them. The idea was to buy them myself, but he will not discuss as NHS does not prescribe them!

But he is willing to suggest I pour a diluted bleach and water mix on my scalp! Not recommended by the NHS either and common sense tells me this is risky and not advisable!

I prefer a natural route to treatment if it is available.....

Doesn’t surprise me, I really have given up all hope with GPs the last few years. I do not recommend the bleach… if you can afford to try the probiotics, they are so good for numerous reasons and hopefully they help your skin. Keep me updated :)

For my face I was prescribed Protopic ointment, scalp and hairline Betaderm liquid and body, Mometasone Cream and for an odd spot, Betamethasone Ointment. Hobby: applying ointments. Drug of choice: steroids. Sigh. LOL

hi I have psoriatic arthritis . Occasionally my skin breaks down , normally on the scalp and at the hairline of my forehead . I use recover 15k cbd . It’s absolutely brilliant . I even have hair regrowth in these areas . Any flair ups I have had I have used this product . I swear by it . That and the 15k ninja for joints and tendons help keep me active and my skin great . I do also take Methotrexate and Sulfasalizine and have for a while . Hope this helps on my face it really has been trial and error
