How are you getting on with hobbies since Christmas?

So far, I've read 8 books and applied for a digital voluntary role. I've also ordered bulbs for

the garden, which I can't wait to get them started indoors.

Trouble is I'm still looking around for something else to do, any suggestions gratefully received.

Oh and I've failed with the knitting, haven't touched it for weeks, no inclination whatsoever .

Wow Chloe you've read 8 books already! I've not finished my first one this year yet.I've had an awful cold/flu thing (not covid) the past week,it really dragged me down.I've not done anything much .

I got through my mums birthday and anniversary week ,I miss her so much especially now.We have more family issues going on,its never ending.I feel I need to put my husband and myself first and stop worrying about my adult kids so much.🤔

Hi Sandradsn

You really are going through it with your health, you sound so run down x

We'll be thinking of you this week, its so hard losing family and especially so with two in a week.

Yes, adult kids really can take their toll, so I agree with you, maybe a short break when you're well will do you the power of good.

Love Chloe x

hi Chloe, what’s a digital voluntary role?

What eight books have you read? I do a lot of reading. Reading a strange one atm called Breakdown. It’s about a woman who left her house husband adult children & work & didn’t go back. Can’t say that I’m enjoying it but I’m into it & want to know how it all ends.

I’m still knitting. Only in the evenings. It’s on my list to go to crochet lessons I also want to learn sign language. You’ve reminded me to get a move on & do it.

A lot of my days are taken up with my dog walking grooming feeding watering playing etc…. Muddy floors 🙄. Easier in the dry months.

I’m still involved in my voluntary work which starts up again next month.

This last week I’ve been looking into & booking breaks away. Also booked a couple of musicals & concerts. Now I’ve just got to figure out how I’m going to pay for it. 🤦‍♀️. A close friend of ours is quite poorly, there’s no treatment for what he has & I just think you’ve got to make the best of what time you have left. None of us know what’s round the corner.

It’s my daughter’s birthday tomorrow. I’m trying to stay upbeat but it’s still hard.

Hi Caza

Maybe I'm explaining it wrong, it's an online role , one I have at Crisis, haven't started yet and another at a Uni.

So, books personal opinion of course :-)

The Familiars by Stacy Halls - Love it!

The Foundling by Stacy Halls- Loved it!

Mrs England by Stacy Halls - not quite so good.

The Family upstairs by Lisa Jewell -Loved it!

The Gifts by Liz Hyder - Loved it!

Between Boy and Man by Peter Farquar _ follows the TV drama, absolutely Loved it!

The Guilded Lily by Deborah Swift - couldn't put it down

A death in the Parish - Canon Cole- enjoyed it.

About to read The Gilded Slipper, Deborah Swift, only just realised I should have read this before The Guilded Lily !

Decided | had better go back to Kindle but a message came up that basically, it's too old, so I don't know what I'm going to do now, books are so expensive.

Crochet lessons will be great Caza.

Lovely breaks, yes you too will benefit from that!

Sorry to read about your friend, so sad.

We'll be thinking of you and your daughter this week <3

I’ve only read one of those books.

So thank you I’ll look them up. My kindle is ten yrs old. I’ve been looking into getting a new one but the hoover fridge & freezer (not attached) microwave & dryer all packed up on us within a couple of months now the air fryer is on the blink 🙄. The kindle & electric toothbrush will have to wait.

Ah. I see. Yes the sign language I’ll do online. The crochet, the local haberdashers runs classes.

Yes I prefer books as well but I have RD so books can be quite heavy & painful to hold at times.

Have you thought of getting an Overbed Tray?, They can sit by your chair and take the weight off your wrists when reading, They are adjustable, not just by height, but also by angle. I have one next to my desk and it's great.

Cheers, Midori

I'm still going swimming a few days a week and doing courses on future learn as well.

I'm also doing French as well online!

Yesterday's swimming session was cancelled and thankfully I got told on Friday morning that it was so had time to find something else to fit in that slot.

What I did was had breakfast out in a cafe I hadn't been to for ages which I enjoyed and had a wander round the shops nearby and popped into the library there as a replacement for the cancelled swimming and did a quiet reflection session in there thinking about how much I have achieved since moving back in May with things like saying no to selfish people and furnishing the flat from scratch.

Today it's the Sunday carvery which I am looking forward to as its nice to get out for a bit and next week it's some interviews in Newport.
