Looking back, I found the 2nd year really hard. I think the first year I was in shock which sort of masked the pain. Also peps were expecting more from me, for them it was over. “Move on” “you should be over it by now” etc....let’s go out & have fun take your minds off things. They meant well but still....... I also found not being able to say this time last year we were doing this & that my much loved daughter was slipping away. I found the 2nd year much harder but hope it isn’t for others we are all very different.

Thank you Caza This is so helpful!

I also found the stress of others comments really difficult to cope with and hindered any ‘coming to terms’ with my loss that first year.

Really sorry the 2nd has been more difficult, there’s just no knowing and that’s the hardest thing about grief, unlike illness, you can find out the length of time it last and the prognosis.

Take good care of yourself 💗

Hi Chloe, I feel full of mixed emotions. Some days I'm fine but today I feel very down.I miss my mum so much,we were always there for each other. Its been 16 months and I think her husband has someone new! It's very hard to deal with.

This past year of Covid has not helped at all with my grief,I haven't seen my boys since feb2020.I know many people are in the same situation ,not just me.

I miss my friend that passed away too, feel so sad not to be able to talk to her.

Last week my cousin died,we were very close growing up together. It seems never ending..

Sorry I've offloaded as I'm having a pity party today.!!

Hi Sandradsn

Sorry you’re so up and down but you’ve been through so much painful upheaval that I not surprised.

Ooh, that really hurts when another ‘friend’ of a loved one comes on the scene, totally understand.

Another loss so soon is only prolonging you’re grief and may have deepened your sorrow, so please think about further bereavement counselling if you have had it before or ask your Doctor.

Always here Sandra

I think I am stronger emotionally but it sometimes creeps back. I try not to think of the bad memories leading up to both my parents' deaths in hospital. I like to remember my mum and happy times I spent with her but memories of my dad are clouded by what I went through with him after my mum died and what he did and put me through. I think it's an ongoing process.Karen

Hi klr31 Good to hear from you Karen,

I’m pleased you feel a bit stronger emotionally, these thyroid take time and then pop up when we’re not expecting it unfortunately.

Totally empathise about your Dad, I’ve found this a somewhat deeper experience to come to terms with x

Take good care of yourself
