Yes. If I hadn't had running to get me through 2018 I really do not know how I would have gotten through everything.

Time in nature is my medicine. "Running" makes it sound much faster than it is. I am happiest out in a forest for a couple of hours or even several hours, slow running. Stopping to take photos, for a snack or just to listen to the birds or even hug a tree, hoping for some of their stoicism, after all they have been standing so long and will still be after we're gone. 🌲🌳🌿

Sounds wonderful GoGo_JoJo

If only we could all benefit from outdoor exercise like that, it would help so many people. We need tips for indoor too, for those locked down, so if you have any, please let us know <3

Everyone should remember the amazing benefits of the outdoors, even a short walk around your neighbourhood does you much more good than you can imagine.

If you really cannot go outside, simple exercises like repeatedly going up and down your stairs (start with 2 repeats and work up to 10) or even before sitting down, almost sit... but don't, hold the squat, do it again, work up to being able to do 10 or even 20 before sitting. Pushing yourself out of a chair with arms is great for working on arm strength.

Caroline Jordan on you tube has loads of chair based exercise videos that are harder than you'd think. Anything that gets your heart rate up (but not too high) and your blood pumping is good for you. 👍🏻

This is a really great question. I was hoping for inspiration for my own needs but i had heard a lot about mindfulness and did not like the idea of a instructor led training so i got one of those books with a CD. It was Ok until i tried to do the 30 minute body scan meditation. On a good day it was ok but usually i felt dog tired and could not concentrate. After seeing one or two of the oxford mindfulness videos on YouTube it seemed to much of a BIG thing at the time. It is still on my mind. I think i mentioned it here some time ago and tried one of the shorter body scans that seem to be easier.

Hi Greyone

I did a 12min body scan from Y/T and it was great, really totally calm at the end of it just enough time for me too, if I come across it I'll put the link up, you may want to look through again YT again in the meantime.

Walking & swimming for me. I’d walk for miles in all weathers day & night. I can totally switch off when swimming, I wear my waterproof earphones listen to my music & swim. Have tried yoga I did enjoy it but not the meditation. My head doesn’t like total silence. Exercise definitely helped me. Helped me sleep.
