manage to get your groceries?
Chloe
Hi chloe,
We don't know how things are going to change and maybe we should all shop on line so supermarket staff do our shopping and we have it delievered as we have to protect front line shop workers.
Another thing to think about is we as humans are very resourceful and the economy is shrinking so no one can tell me that a whole bunch of society will be neglected, au contraire in fact as we are a consumer society and a service provider predominantly. So I don't think that will be an issue as so many people are in the same situation.
I will do my grocery shopping myself until told otherwise as I'm only slightly higher risk then some and not in the group told to self isolate. And I will go shopping at quieter times of the day and week.
The more relaxed we are the less stressed and better able to fight infections including the common cold so I'd try and think that so far 99.5% of the UK population are virus free and we have to see how that changes over the coming weeks.
You take care now and how are you getting your groceries?
Jerry. 😊
Hi Jerry,
Well, London is ahead of everyone so far and shopping here is just awful. I was at the shops for 8am yesterday and the queues waiting to get in were unbelievable, lots of stock gone, so a very stressful experience.
I have today managed to get the first available home delivery and that is April 2 ! so it sounds as though it is easier where you are thank fully.
I'm all for keeping calm and not panicking, unfortunately, not everyone is and its made the situation far worse than needs be.
Take care <3

Hey this sounds awful, I live in a forest on the edge of a small town and I can buy everything that I want there, some things are in short supply. There's a realitively large supermarket one mile from me and I can drive at the speed limit not like cities so it's a doddle.
Cities are in a far worse situation because of the close proximity of everyone and at first when the cornovirus surfaced as I'd moved here from a busy city I wondered if I'd feel isolated if I can't visit or have visitors from there.
But I'm 3 minutes from being in the middle of the forest and I was fortunate that i could buy some land at the back of me and as I only bought it all last summer have lots to do here so feel very fortuous as long as the bug doesn't get me. 🤢
I am still very apprehensive as I don't know what the furture will bring and it's this uncertainty that is spooking everyone out.
I hope that everything clams down for you and well done for sorting your home delivery out, I'm thinking of having milk delivered to save some shopping trips and thats my only contingency plan. so far.
I think by talking about our circumstances hepls as we all fear this virus I assure you as we are all are scared stiff if it.
Stay safe thats the most imporatnt thing,
Jerry 😊
We have a well stocked cupboard for standby and go out if we need things like fresh things.
We do a fortnightly shop from tesco where we restock the pantry with things like tinned fruit and soups and dried things as well like good old angel delight and jellies bringing back memories of old times when we made do with things.
I think the simple things are the best ones myself!
We do grow our own veg though
its hard going just now but hopefully it calms down its terrible and it the needy who are suffering the most and its a shame.our asda stocked up last night and my sister said her friend queued outside at 2am for fresh food.my mrs went today and again it was stripped bare.tomorrow is our big shopping day but I don't expect it to be that big.
Let us know how you get on please Kenny <3
my mrs got her shopping but from various stores.later on I went to shops asda wilko savers Iceland farmfoods not one bar of soap or hand gel toilet roll many tinned items managed to get tuna and rice but its madness.
Here in Australia the shops will restock tonight and they are open one hour before the normal opening times for the vulnerable people or their carers to have the opportunity to get essential items (let's hope).
We are going shopping tomorrow between 7 and 8 am.
No idea what to expect but it's a good initiative.
Online shopping isn't really working as they had to drop certain items off the list and waiting times are very long.
Looking up & down my street its wonderful to see how my neighbours are coping thanks to their families.
My favourite trick is to exercise restraint. After the cheap food sold out the regular stiff did. Fortunately there is other stuff and i leave the cheap stuff to those who can only afford that.
I've come to realise that porridge does not really taste that different when made entirely with water so I've cut down on my milk and make better choices to save on bread.
I've decided not to stock up but use what i have sparingly and hope the panic buying will settle down. I make regular use of all my food stores so i don't look like a crafty shopper.
Good luck everyone.
I always do a fortnightly online shop,it arrived last night but half of it was unavailable! No teabags! or frozen food, tinned,Richtea biscuits, toilet rolls, eggs ,potatoes, bananas etc!!
It's crazy!
That sounds worse than mine, awful situation.
Chloe <3
We do a fortnightly shop here. Most things were available but some weren't mostly the tinned soup and I had said to the delivery guy it didn't matter as I wasn't desperate for them and he had thanked me for having been so understanding.
Hi Hidden
Really pleased you got what you wanted and thank you for thinking if others.
Chloe<3
Today we are going to see what we can give to the local foodbank as there will be more people in need of those places so we will see what we can do for them as yesterday they said the schools here in wales are closing indefinitely from tomorrow so the poor families won't get their free school lunches and its always harder for families in the holidays when the free school lunches aren't there!
Its disgusting in this day and age how there's lots more people reliant on food banks than there used to be years ago!
Point is anyone's circumstances can change at the drop of a hat and if there's anything we can do to help out then we will as one day it could be us in need of those places!
my best mate his cousin owns a pub and he is offering free breakfast and meals to parents who are losing out through the schools being closed.
That's a superb offer too Kenny, it's great to see that generosity to others still exists.
Chloe
yeah he has done other things to help the community his pub sits below the pavement so its gets flooded bad in the stormy weather its a bit of give and take he is great that way folk helped him in the floods so its his way of giving back in desperate times.
That's a great idea and will be much appreciated!
I have dropped off some items at the local food bank during my lunchtime walk and they were thankful for them!
When times like these strike it makes you realise how most matters are petty when you put them into perspective!
How are things over here? Here is the US, stores are almost out of the basic essentials - toilet paper, water, cleaning products, etc. or if they do have them it’s limit 1 per customer in most stores. They have hours for the most at risk- such as elderly- can shop the first hour of the store opening. Schools are closed but the city where I am, kids can still go for grab & go lunches. Restaurants are open only for to go orders/ take out. I hope everyone is okay. Staying in is harder than I thought! How is everyone coping?
Hi Lperica <3
Well, it's much the same in the UK but shopping is worse I think, although they have just brought in the 1st hour for elderly, vulnerable and NHS staff.
Restaurants closed and I'm not sure about take aways. Much stricter rules coming into force this week, with the vulnerable being told to stay home for 12weeks, those people in this classification will be notified this week and so it goes on.....
It is harder than I thought to Lperica, actually felt pretty stifled today but must carry on,.
Keep strong <3
Chloe
Thank you stay strong too!
My older sister encouraged me to order meal delivery from a local company that specializes in that. Although more money than the grocery route she said each meal is enough for two people. I would have preferred home grocery delivery from markets but it is all booked for now. For emergency backup I ordered some dehydrated camping food from a outdoors company just to have on hand.
We have been told to shelter in place so that is what I am doing. I am hoping by the time I need more than food, delivery services will become available. I live by myself & normally never eat out so this is uncharted territory. Hope it isn’t too salty ...
Cant get any home deliveries until April in our neck of the woods, but managing ok for what we need. Hubs went out this morning and still people are panic buying though. Could not get any flour or eggs.
I think what people are doing are booking several bookings at one time. I can't say I blame them, but it makes it difficult for everyone else. You be safe too and take care x
