bloating

I am on prednisolone and colchicine daily to manage suspected BD I’ve read loads of people suffer with loose stools

Has anyone experienced bloating difficulty passing stools with cramps?

Could it be meds related ?

Hi Tiffrose,

The colchicine you are currently on is absolutely known to upset your stomach and your bowel habits alot of people cannot tolerate it.

I was unable to continue on it as it got so bad

Whilst on the Colchicine you should be having regular blood tests to keep an eye on your kidney and liver function as it is known to affect these and other things,i used to have mine every 3-4 weeks....currrntly on same regime with the MTX, bloods every 2 weeks

i now Currently take Methotrexate injections. Prednisone and infliximab infusions. This combination has settled the chronic bowel and stomach problems but still getting uveitis in the eyes and some mouth ulcers

Hope you get answers soon and the right Meds to settle your symptoms

Hi Tiffrose,

I avoided Colchicine for fear of making my gut symptoms worse. I've not been on it so can't really comment. However eating dairy and gluten gives me tummy cramps and loose bowels. I'm fine when I avoid them but it all comes flooding back when I decide to see if its still the case. As much as I can I eat unprocessed food with lots of veg and try not to eat too much sugar.
