Bartholin Cyst.

I was diagnosed with a Bartholin Cyst through a GP around 2.5 months ago, and had been off/on antibiotics during this period.

Recently, I went to an OBGYN who informed me that because my cyst is deep-seated and is not currently infected, he was not recommending any form of surgery until it began to swell and come further to the top of the skin (also highlighting the unnecessary need for antibiotics if surgery us to be performed, as these alleviate the inflammation - all those side effects; stomach problems, bowel issues, and thrush for nothing)!

On one hand, I can appreciate not having to go through with the marsupialization/drainage but, on the other hand, I really just want it gone and would've welcomed some assistance.

Has anyone had experience with this? A deep-seated cyst that your GP/OBGYN will not perform surgery on? Does anyone have recommendations for at home-treatment? Though I feel like I've tried every home remedy available...

Almost tempted to just grab a bottle of rum and sterilise a needle at this point!

hi there, ive had one before that resolved without surgery. i kept doing very very warm compresses and it took a week or two to resolve. i did continue to have sex as it was more so annoying that painful and part of me feels like that helped the gland to keep it moving,

hope this helps, hang in there.

hi yes i have problems with this gland and decided against surgery as i feel it could make matters worse being where it is! have you tried diluted t tree oil? seems a shame if you have to take antibiotics. I do find having an epsom salt bath most days helps with this problem and vaginal ulcers. also of course relaxing in it for at least 15 minutes is good for the soul as well as helping releasing toxins. good luck and dont get downhearted it isnt a disease that one route suits all sadly.

I had similar problems many years ago and had surgery which caused major problems with inflammation, not healing properly, becoming more infected and major ulceration. This was back in the 1980’s and done by a surgeon who was unaware of Behcets and what could happen. When I saw my immunologist who treated me for Behcets at that time, she said I should never have had surgery. I have terrible scars. Please try and avoid surgery around that area. Good luck and hope you find a solution x
