Exercise related inflammation

Hello!

I’m on my usual Behçet’s medications and have *knock on wood* only had a few flare ups. Since returning to the gym I have had some tendon and joint inflammation, any advice? Really trying to avoid prednisone.

It's a continuing problem for me, and prevents me from doing any exercise or dance classes as I get swept along and suffer afterwards. My only advice is to dial it down a gear and build up very gradually while your joints accustom.

Echoing the ‘dial it down’ advice.

The ‘balancing act’ to stay within my undefined threshold has been a struggle for the past 50 years! And still a struggle!

First if all, good for you that you are working out. I have been on prednisone for 20 years now. For years I've been taking 5mg it's the only thing that keeps the flares down for me. I started working out for the first time ever so I had to start slowly. I did get a flare when I pushed myself a little too much. What has worked for me is 20 min on an indoor bike for a couple weeks then I added 20 of gentle yoga for about 3-4 weeks then 20 min of a higher level of yoga (an workout). I've done really well doing it this way. I think yoga is a great option to start with. I have tried to add weights, but my body doesn't respond well to it. I hope this helps and you can get back in the gym safely.
