I ignored the pain for over a month but can't any longer. My lower gut is hurting. I had a flare of mouth ulcers and around the same time every time I eat, even something as bland as split pea soup, my gut burns. Even after some time there is always a dull ache. Have to see a gastroenterologist real soon. Anyone else suffer from this and are you on any meds for it?
Constant lower gut pain.: I ignored the pain for... - Behçet's UK
Constant lower gut pain.
I had problems in my upper gut. Not lower. For that I used a glass of water with a couple drops of peppermint essential oil and it really worked well. My doctor told me it was inflammation of the lining of my stomach, gastritis. Horrible pain. Worst during flares. I’m sorry you’re hurting...
Have you tried adjusting your diet to see whether you have any food intolerances? A lot of people with Behçet’s have a good response if they find and eliminate their ‘trigger foods’. These vary a lot from person to person. Common intolerances are gluten, dairy, nightshade family, eggs. Others have responded well to a low carb diet, FODMAP diet or reducing salicylates.
The key is to find what suits you personally, and eliminate any triggers while ensuring that your overall diet is as nourishing and varied as possible. If you discover gluten is a problem, be aware that many manufactured gluten-free breads are low in nutrition and high in empty carbs like tapioca and cornstarch.
Drink peppermint tea really works but make sure it is pure peppermint xx
I rememeber before my intolerance got worse- my lower stomach would hurt all the time. As if I ate a bowling ball but couldn’t poop it out. How are your bms? That can tell you a lot with inflammation, food, absorption etc. don’t put off the appt any longer. I had a girlfriend a few years ago have to rush for emergency surgery bc her intestines Overlapped in itself- intussusception. She was just tired all and had dull stomach pains. Apparently the condition is common in children but can be fatal for adults. Keep notes and stop ignoring it. Only keep a one week rule. If something doesn’t go away in a week, then you go. Not a month. Good luck boop.
Hi Brichel
Hope you got some answers from your Dr. I going to tell my story because mine started like yours.
My low abdominal pain went on and on for a few years, I went to see all the specialist nothing wrong so it must be diet, changed the diet, then removed the Omeprazole which I eventually discovered through process of elimination was causing the terribly nasty bloating through daily use of these...
But still the low abdominal pain and burning went on and on, then things got a whole lot worse I began to start getting excruciating pain and again back and forth to the Dr nothing found... got rushed to out of our Dr again nothing, meanwhile I'm having to now go and to lie down almost daily to try and ease the pain and got I told if this excruciating pain happened this bad again the go to A&E, and them on the 4th December last year I got rushed into hospital straight onto the ward... they eventually decided to do a CT scan and low and behold they discovered an occult inguinal hernia meaning a hidden hernia so no wonder nobody could see or feel it... I was told it could have been there years gradually getting worse it was an omentum hernia not one involving bowel so told I was not an emergecy...
I booked myself into the specialist hernia hospital in London to get it removed, NHS waiting list too long... I flew from north Scotland to London to see the consultant at the London hospital, he didn't believe that I had a hidden hernia on examination, he said in over 2 decades he had never not been able to feel a hernia and felt uncomfortable carrying out a poceedure on something he could not locate!!! I was momentarilly filled with dread, but lucky for me I'd ordered a copy of the CT scan on a disc from the NHS hospital, I handed him the disc and thankfully he and backed up by the head radiologist could then see my hidden hernia, surgery went ahead the following morning he told me later he would never discount another person who gave out all the symptoms of a hernia but a hernia could not be located, a hidden hernia is rare and affects women mostly, I was pleased to hear this from just one consultant who carries out over 3,000 hernia operations every year from people all over the world... oh and I had to wait until July 7 minths later to hear from the NHS just to get another consultation to discuss removing the hernia that I had had to pay to be removed 7 months earlier...
Hope you can get some relief really soon.
Gillian
Sorry the hernia was not removed it was pushed back inside !!! Funny x
Hi, any updates on your condition? How are you doing? What did you do about it?
It seems to me you might be having a UTI or some form of infection. Any problems urinating or lower back pains?
