So I am finally off of the prednisone after a year and a half! Woo. Many of you have heard the plight. Anyhow...once off of it, it appears severe hip pain and spine pain was being masked. The question is....could this be a new disease? Could prednisone really have been masking this, the entire time? Not sure how to proceed from here. My gut instinct is to request an MRI of my hip and spine to see what actually is happening. Thoughts?

Hip and Spine Pain
A side effect of Steroids is Osteoporosis especially after having taken it for so long?
Is this how it would feel? So at time 2 of my DEXA I was already in osteopenia. They are planning to check again in November to see where I am at. I could request to check earlier?
I think information is always a good thing. If you have MRI you will know what is wrong and potentially what can help.
Not necessarily. I've had spine pain since my teens. It just seems to have been sliding down: first my neck, then between my shoulder blades, then the lower back and now I'm down to my hip and tailbone. Every phase seems to have gone through an active phase and then going inactive while slinking down to the next part. What makes it interesting, though, is that every segment is something else: I got MRI's done myself, because docs weren't interested. The neck joints have spondylitis, between the blades I have mild scoliosis with osteoarthritis, my three lower joints have prolapses and I have no idea what's going on below that other than some sort of inflammation. My guess is cartilage inflammation between the SI-joint (because it seems to be in place, but still burns) and between my tailbone and spine. The inflammation in time turns to something else. But I have a sneaky feeling that steroids can mask some of the damage going on through little by little while keeping inflammation some how in check.
Hi; please do consult your doctor, but from what I have learned as caregiver for my son, same predinsone, Vitamin K2 found in Japan diet is very excellent found in Japan diet, called Natto Fermented Beans...Vit. K2 is the vitamin that also acts as Harmone, our diet lacks this, as it is produced in animal organs, ie. beef liver, goose liver, but fortunately, eating one pacakge of nato beans, will pervent bone loss, the studies show that japan population has very success rate for hip/bone problems, compare to rest of the world....The smooth cells of behcets blood vessels and endtholial (sp?) cells become damged, vit. K2 will repair these...please study/reasearch Natto Beans Diet, my son is on it now.....include this in your daily diet, diffcult to eat but very life saving, the Natto Beans...good luck, and best wishes for you...
