Eye ulcer
Yikes, Pete!
That looks very painful!
I am Cindy.
Since it is the weekend, I suggest you ask your pharmacist what they suggest.
Then, get to an opthomalagist as soon as possible or even go to an ER or urgent care.
Behcet's can cause blindness, so don't take chances.
I know there are prednisone eye drops, from my eye surgery. But oral prednisone might be what's best. Especially if you are having a flare.
Please, make sure you wash your hands before touching your eye, to prevent infection.
Maybe someone will come on soon and offer you more help.
I have never had an ulcer in my eye.
Good luck and good health.
Cindy
Hi Pete,
Firstly, ouch, you poor thing.
I have the unlikely coincidence of being an optometrist with Behcet’s. I too have had an ulcer on my tarsal conjunctiva, although much smaller. You need a steroid eye ointment and given it’s an open sore an additional antibiotic eye ointment. Names might vary internationally but Siguent hycor eye ointment 1% . You need to get these ointments on script here in Australia. All the best.
Hi thanks for the reply and information it is still very sore and feels like my eye is bruised. I'm going to get some eye meds today so fingers crossed it will help. I'm also on oral steroids and azathioprine.
Good luck and hope you find the right treatment and it heals up quickly Pete.
Hi Pete,
Just wanted to see how you are doing.
Did you get any good info for relief?
I hope so, but I still suggest you see an opthalmologist ASAP.
Cindy
Hi Cindy
Thanks for asking yes it's still very sore but getting better now got ulcers in mouth and back so in a flare up. I'm on a antibiotic for my eye so fingers crossed it will start to work.
Thanks
