HI there,
I was just wondering is tight chest/breathing difficulties associated with Behcets? Anyone else get this?

I think lots of us experience breathing difficulties from time-to-time. My doctors don't seem that interested, even though I was blue lighted in on more than one occasion. Shortness of breath can also be caused by some of the meds we use.
Starteacher:According to the rheumatologist the answer is YES and its sometimes confused that the patient with Behcets has Asthma, he told me asthma is inflammation of the lungs due to allergy, in Behcets sufferers its the inflammation only that causes the mucus to build up, hence tight chest wheezing, breathless. I suffer and before diagnosis was prescribed ventolin and beclometasone for asthma, since my recent diagnosis have been changed to Fluticasone..so much better...hope this helps and puts your mind at ease.
thanks so much. That's very helpful.Nice to know I'm not imagining it!!
Sorry to hear you have both been having problems. Now that the drs have reduced my oral steroids my previous breathing have started to come back.
Prof Fortune at London specialist centre could here crackling in my lungs but said she did not associate Behcets with asthma - but the asthma should be treated. Interesting what your rheumi said about Behcets. My GP said the main thing is to treat the problem whatever the cause and that we could try some different inhalers. Breathing difficulties are horrible but its good to hears some meds are working fro you Oceanna . I wonder why Fluticasone worked better than other inhalers - I'll mention it to my GP if I get a chance.
