Hi Moonflower, a classic sign of Behcets is ulcers on the inside of you cheeks which then can spread to lips, throat, nose, vagina, anus and skin. Not sure what you mean by cracks and also have you been diagnosed with an illness yet ? Perhaps you could tell us more and maybe we could offer more advice/ help. If you are worried you need to see a doctor and if you can't get an appointment quickly, try to take or get somebody to take photos of these cracks so that you can show them to a doctor (just in case they are not so visible once you have a an appointment. Hope this helps.

Cracks on the outside of the mouth where lips meet /join.

I have been diagnosed with BD in 2000 .I have not had an ulcer on the outside before. its visable and must look awful to others. Many many ulcers in the mouth cropping all the time.

I have started to take Vitamin B+ any ideas.

Any help would be great

Hi again, ok I too am a BD sufferer for 27 years. I used to get terrible ulcers/ lesions on my lips and side of nose and was ashamed to be seen. When I took my children to school (before my diagnosis) I sued to wrap a scarf arou d my face and feign toothache or a bad cold or even cold sores, so I do sympathise with you. Are you on any oral meds at the moment and if so may ask which ones? I find that CLENIL steroid inhalers, sprays and creams can help. Best used at the onset of a flare and can so e times stop the flare before it really takes hold. I suppose the inhaler and cream would be best for your cheeks. Either apply the cream frequently for a few days, slowly reducing or put the I haler as close to lesions as possible a couple off puffs on each and again 3/5 times daily for a few days then again reducing. Before you try any of this check with your doctor if this is safe for you as yo will need a prescription anyway. Also check about referral to consultant if these symptoms are knew for you as you may need new or change of meds. I know it is horrible and can be very painful but the correct and speedy treatment is the key.

Do take care, and let me know how you get on.

If you have any more questions or just need to talk we are always here for you.

I have had ulcers all over my face and mouth. Even in my nose.

Hi Jazzy21

Thanks for your reply, yes I have had them in my nose awful.

I have tried clenil and then did look online and it suggested Vitamin B level can be low in Bechets.

What did you do?

It looks like some awful STD.

Its getting slightly better ,however breaks open and is a vicious ulcer.

Yo, I started getting this problem a few years back. I went to the doctor and they gave me steroid cream and some other cream which is used for thrush - begins with a b - can't remember. I put fifty percent of each on cracks when they appear twice a day until they go away. Sometimes they come straight back, sometimes they stay away for a while. I used the cream on genital sores too, but thankfully, these have now gone. #

Hope that is helpful, Cheers, Tim

I had this a lot at one time and also took Vitamin B Complex and still do on and off. It did seem to have a good effect for this...so definitely worth a try or if concerned the Dr can do a vitamin B test.

good luck Andrea

Thanks Andreafm

I appreciate your answer and will keep on with the vitamin B

I get awful ulcers, mainly in my mouth and throat but also elsewhere. I have found that hydrocortisone buccal tablets are the only thing that helps. You can get these over the counter at any pharmacy and I now have got them on repeat prescription. They work by placing the tablet on the ulcer and leaving it there to dissolve and doing this 4 times a day. This works brilliantly on ulcers which you can place the tablet on but the ones I get at the back on my mouth and throat I can't use this method. But for anyone suffering oral ulcers I definitely would give these little tablets a go!
