Hi all!

Have had a severe headache for the last two weeks that has got progressively worse (it felt like a building up of pressure) anyway, I had a really bad nosebleed last night ( it was like a river and didn't stop for about 7 minutes... It filled up a good bit of the sink!) and my headache felt a lot better! Don't know wether I should go to the doctors and mention this or now... I'm really looking for someone else's opinion... Thanks all!:)

Hi MusicFreak2396,

That sounds scary! You can lose quite a bit of blood through nose bleeds. I used to get them quite often and had to see an Ear Nose & Throat surgeon. He took a look with a scope, just in his rooms & then cauterised the offending blood vessel with a swab & some chemical.

Do you have a home Blood Pressure monitor? I bought one from a chemist shop. It would be interesting to track how high your Blood Pressure was when the pressure built up.

Be best to see your doctor & ask for a referral to a Neurologist to check out the reason behind the severe headache & the nose bleed.

My Neuro did an MRI to exclude all the causes of severe headaches. He then diagnosed Migraines and let me try about 10 different treatments. I settled on taking B2 Riboflavin as a preventative as I tolerated it well & it helped. Unfortunately for me he never raised the possibility of Behcet's Disease. Certain foods, drugs, chemicals or environmental conditions might provoke the migraines too.

Did you say you are going to one of the centres of excellence? They should have a Neurologist familiar with Behcet's.

Sweetheart, you are young, undiagnosed and scared. These things that are happening to you are probably also causing you much stress and perhaps even a little panic. That is not at all surprising and will be recognised by many of us. Sharing your fears and asking questions here is a great thing to do, and I hope you are able to draw some comfort and reassurance that you are not alone. What we can’t do is give you any medical advice, only share our experiences, knowledge and understanding.

I surmise from your posts you have seen at least two or three doctors recently. You still haven’t told us who the doctor was who said you are classed partially blind now and that you would lose your eyesight in three weeks but didn’t say why which is at odds with the Opt who told you there was nothing wrong and you are a hypochondriac. This concerns me greatly. These are very serious thing to say without any reason given, referral or follow up.

The vision, headache and bleeding probs could be connected, they may not be, but whatever the reason someone needs to know and none of us can diagnose the cause.

You are waiting for your C of Ex appointment and you will get excellent treatment there, but clearly you need more support than you are getting right now and I think you need to be proactive in this. Appropriate treatment and management of your illness needs to happen now, and it sounds as if your GP is aware of that. You told him about the headaches yesterday, you were already on morphine, he is starting to listen and he gave you some steroids. It may be a good idea to see him for a further chat to establish how you are going to be cared for between now and your C of E appointment. Can your boyfriend accompany you, or a friend or family member? If you don’t yet have a date for the C of E then perhaps your doctor could enquire for you. If this is not going to be for a while he can ask them for advice about your treatment in the meanwhile if he is unsure, or get things in motion for you if you need to see other Specialists now, e.g. chase up the person who gave you the advice about your eyes or refer you to someone else while you are waiting for your C of E app if he feels you need further specialist treatment now.

Hello tigerfeet! My doctor did in fact enquire when I was there x they told us I would have an appointment date sent to me this week. I'm very excited!:) the doctor has told me to wait until the CoE for my eyes and headaches, and actually after raising my steroids... My eyes haven't gotten any worse!:) I had a little cry this morning when everything wasn't any more blurry or fuzzy!:) I realise I may sound really young and immature on here... And I'm sorry. I've just been very sick for what feels like so long.. And now someone's shined a light at the end of the tunnel!:) I did bleed quite a bit yesterday!!! It just kept coming... But then stopped like a tap had been turned.. My head feels quite a bit better this morning!:) x thank you for your answer and I apologise for all my other posts and questions.. I didn't realise that I shouldn't just ask anything... I just wanted to know what everyone else has been through! Won't happen again!:) x

God bless you x hope you are as well as can possibly be x

I deleted my comment because I realised I had missed something out, so here is attempt number two:-

Oh my darling, I must get some things straight here - NEVER apologise for any post, We absolutely understand what you are going through, many of us have had/will have the same experience and being able to post your thoughts, questions, ask others what they have been through etc is what we are here for, and much much more.

I was just making it clear that we can't give you any medical advice as none of us are medically trained. I didn't want you to think that we were giving you 'official' answers, just personal/general/caring ones.

I don't know you and wouldn't presume to judge your maturity. No doubt as a fellow Christian you are familiar with “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1-2”

I do know that you are young because it says so in your profile and it is quite understandable that you are so worried. There are a lot of old bats on here like me who have the hindsight of what it feels like to be young and undiagnosed. Even the oldies have fears and questions and things they want to share!

I'm really pleased to hear that your Doctor is on the ball and that you will get your appointment soon. It's good that you are feeling better and more positive.

Whenever you are worried or are wondering about a symptom or what to do about it, of course post on here, but the number one piece of advice any of us will give you is to seek medical help too.

There are other young people on here and parents of BD sufferers. As time goes on you will find all levels of support and be able to contribute yourself. Sometimes posters don't realise that they are contributing valuable information even when they are suffering or asking for advice, because it may be something others haven't experienced, or that they have experienced and can benefit from being able to compare.

So please remember - KEEP POSTING AND DON'T EVER APOLOGISE FOR ASKING FOR SUPPORT! X
