London Group Support

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago, I introduced myself as the new London Centre of Excellence Support Worker and explained that I am planning to set up a support group in London or the surrounding area.

I wonder if those who are interested might feedback to me some location suggestions.

I am trying to keep transport in mind, either by car or public transport.

How does Hendon in the North sound or Croydon in the South?

These are just suggestions and I hope to hear back from as many of you as possible so we can get the ball rolling!

Thanks so much!

jean

Hi Jean we live in Kent but right down on the Kent coast in Ramsgate, so where ever its held we would have to travel some distance.

There are other support groups e.g. I run the east of England and we usually meet in Cambridgeshire but do have members in Kent. Are you on FB?

I live just outside Oxford. Croydon would be a bit of a trek.

Would be good to have a support group.

There are several others with bd close to you in Oxon and Bucks. We could sort a more local group too. Are you on FB?

I am in South East London. However I do not mind

travelling. I was thinking though should it not be Central London.

Maybe near Euston or Kings Cross both have a variety of transport links.

Jen??.

Hi Jean,

Central London would probably benefit the most people both in terms of time/distance travelled and ease of access. In terms of actual location, are we talking about a hospital conference room? St Thomas's is close to Waterloo, but anything near a mainline railway or central tube station would be great.

Hi jean,

I guess central london would be best, the only problem for me would be what time. I do not like to travel at night. :)

I live in London so anywhere centralise would work for me , like suggestions above for others a place close to train or main tube station ;)

I agree that central, Waterloo or Victoria or Kings Cross would be easier for more.

We are having a walk on Sat 22nd June in London if anyone is interested. Good group of bd patients coming.

Hi again and thanks so much for the responses! It seems from the feedback, we are looking at central London, as it's got the best transport links, and a group meeting that will be scheduled late afternoon so people do not have to travel at night.

I will start looking into venues around Victoria, Kings Cross, Euston and continue to keep you all posted on my progress.

Please continue to send in any ideas/suggestions, I really appreciate it!

Best wishes!

Hi all!

For some reason I seem to be having trouble responding to some of your messages, both by, personal message and just clicking reply.

Sorry to make this so public and if you prefer, just message me back.

I am wondering Zebra, where and when the walk is and if it would be okay for me to join in on the 22nd.

Also to diyar99, I am looking forward to meeting you at the clinic on Friday. Maybe you could just message me your details so I know who to look out for!

Again, thanks so much for all the feedback regarding London locations. I feel like we will get there much sooner than I anticipated.

Looking forward to meeting you all in August/Sept.

Best wishes from Jean
