I've been with my husband for 7 years and got a positive test result from my pap smear for chlamydia,I get yearly exams and Last year was negative, he admitted to cheating 4 years ago and said he has been faithful but test don't lie,I've had chlamydia 20 years ago in high school but not problems since then, could chlamydia be dormant to get negative test and come back in its own or,or is it possible I didn't contract it from him until years later??or he just he's Lying
Could you get a negative chlamydia result pap and yr... - BASHH
Could you get a negative chlamydia result pap and yr later positive if partners are monogamous
Oh how awful for you to need to question your husbands faithfulness. My heart hurts for you.If you had taken the medication back then and had negative results after then its gone. This does not lie dormant like hpv does I'm sorry to say.
Unfortunately lies always catch us out in the end and if its not you then it's gotta be him.
I've been through this so I understand how you're feeling right now xxx
To begin with , a pap smear is a cytology ( cell ) test for cancer of the cervix. It is NOT a test usually done for chlamydia. The test for chlamydia is usually a DNA amplification test , called a NAAT ( or PCR )
Please establish what exact test you have had done.
Secondly - with all DNA amplification tests there are small rate of false positive and false negative results. The lower the chance of chlamydia, statistically the higher chance of a false positive result.
One possible way of checking this it ask your partner to do a similar test . If this is also positive, the chance of two false positives is very small. if it is negative, then you need to consider the chance of a false positive result.
