Hey peeps this is quite awkward for me but I need a bit of advice. I have been with my boyfriend for nearly 5 years and never had protected sex. He's started taking antibiotics for a stomach problem but now it looks like he's got thrush which he has passed on to me. Any advice on how to long he should be treated for and what is the best things to use. Thanks

antibiotics can cause thrust in men and women. Ring your health care provider and explain your symptoms. They will be happy to help.
Fluconazole should help. Have a chat with your pharmacist perhaps
I'm afraid this doesnt sound very likely. Antibiotic therapy can cause oral candida in some people who take it , and sometimes genital candida in females. I have never seen a male develop it after oral antibiotics. Additionally , it is not sexually transmitted.
Can you describe further what symptoms you and your partner have ? What antibiotics is he taking and for how long ? If it is helicobacter therapy , that is usually for a week.
I don't really have any symptoms but after we have sex his penis is red. He says I must have it and passed it on to him
So this might not be candida at all but a separate skin problem. Women can have candida without any symptoms. Try having sex with a condom - if he still gets the issue then suggests it isnt candida . If he is having the redness after unprotected sex with you, then you can either take an over the counter fluconazole 150mgs or a clotrimazole 500mg pessary. Both are equally effective. He can use topical clotrimazole 1% until the issue resolves. He doesnt need any tablets.
What is he taking for the thrush, I’m guessing cream from the chemist. When my partner gave it to me a few years ago I used it till the symptoms went away.
Think the cream is Canestan, but I’m not sure what is correct for females. Your pharmacy should have a private room where you can ask.
