I had the copper coil for 5 years, I thought I had no problems with it until it came out very recently. I found that I had very low mood and was very anxious when I had it in, but I thought it was unrelated to the coil, however when it came out I felt loads better, I had it out for 5 weeks before getting a new one in, and those 5 weeks I felt great. Now it has been 5 days since the new one has been in and I feel very low and anxious again, is there anyway this can be from the non-hormonal coil? The timing of it all feels so strange and I've had enough of feeling this way.
When I had it out for the 5 weeks I was on the POP pill.
Any advice?

Hi, could be the pop pill. Many of my friends had the copper coil after they were on the pill and had moods swings too. the mood swings could have been related to the body adjusting from the hormones. I had the coil put in with no hormonal contraception for 9+years and i felt fine so most likely the hormones from the pill has messed up your system but everyone is different. See how you get on in the next week or so and if nothing gets better see your doctor. tc xx
Not even the innocent copper coil is immune from side effects I'm afraid. If you are able to, I'd test a longer period of time without any invasive contraception or hormones. Your mental health matters more in the long run.
Copper toxicity is real and we're all different, find what works best for you
